Lego pieces from the Nightmare before Christmas Lego set sally's Flowerpot

There have been a few 'flowerpot' LEGO® sets already; 76784 Wednesday Black Dahlia, 43252 Moana's Flowerpot and 43237  Isabela's Flowerpot.  The next LEGO flowerpot to propagate is LEGO® Disney 43288 Sally's Flowerpot, available from 1 March 2026. Sally's Flowerpot appears to have a few new printed pieces and some blue violet pieces, so let's see what it has to offer element fans.

Lego Disney 43288 Sally's Flowerpot

Background

Sally is a main character in Tim Burton's 1993 stop-motion film The Nightmare Before Christmas. She is a living rag doll created by the over-protective Doctor Finkelstein. I love this film and I've watched in many times, although I don't remember Sally living in a flowerpot. Having said that, neither did Moana, Isabela nor Wednesday; this is a purely LEGO-derived concept.

In any event, the internal play area is a nod to Sally's hobby in the film of potion brewing, including her use of deadly nightshade. Dr. Finkelstein is on the receiving end of a few doses of her potions as a means to allow her escape beyond his prison-like castle.

Recolours

lego carved pumpkin and large purple leaf
  • 1x Pumpkin with Jack O' Lantern Face and Green Stem Print in Dark Orange (6604936 | 20695), previously only in orange.
  • 1x Plant, Leaf/Petal 4 x 6 x 1 1 / 3 in Dark Purple (6602218 | 7096)

curved violet lego bits
  • 4x Plant, Leaves, Round 2 x 2 x 2/3 with + Axle Hole and 4 Leaf Extensions in Blue Violet (6602214 | 15469)
  • 3x Brick Round 2 x 2 Dome Top, Vented Stud in Blue Violet (6602213 | 3262)

black and grey lego parts
  • 3x Plant, Fern 2 x 3 x 2 in Black (6602219 | 2682)
  • 2x Brick Round 1 x 1 D. Tube with 45° Elbow and Axle Holes (Crossholes) at Each End in Black (6586225 | 7324)
  • 1x Plate Special, 1 x 1 Stud with 3 x 3 Ring on Top in Black (6602222 | 3917)
  • 3x Brick Round Curved 6 x 6 x 1 in Light Bluish Gray (6600572 | 7426)
This is the first time 6 x 6 x 1 curved brick has appeared unprinted in a set, and it is also the first recolour of the element.  You may remember when this mould first appeared, looking a little brighter and flashier in 21357 Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. (see my review of the LEGO Pixar lamp).

Finally, a lovely selection of sand blue curves:

sand blue lego pieces
  • 4x Brick Round Corner 5 x 5 Macaroni with 1/3 Inner Side in Sand Blue (6602215 | 5532)
  • 12x Slope Curved 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 No Studs in Sand Blue (6602221 | 3573)
  • 8x Windscreen 3 x 6 x 1 Curved with Rectangular Stud Holder in Bottom in Sand Blue (6602216 | 35299)
  • 6x Brick Curved 1 x 2 x 1 No Studs in Sand Blue (6602220 | 37352)

New prints

There are three new printed elements in the set.

3 printed lego pieces
  • 1x Brick Round Curved 6 x 6 x 1 with print in Light Bluish Gray (6592965)
  • 2x Plant, Leaf/Petal 4 x 6 x 1 1 / 3 with print in Black (6592957)
  • 1x Plant, Leaf/Petal 4 x 6 x 1 1 / 3 with print in Black (6592958)
The printed leaves are certainly interesting, but feel challenging to re-use elsewhere. Perhaps some sort of 1990s home décor?

an evil lego black cat
  • 1x Animal, Cat, Sitting with print in Black (6592959 | 11602)
We have seen this particular cat mould many times, in fact I think there are around 18 variations of this cat. This is a great recolour – plain black, knowing smirk and bright yellow eyes!

Mini-doll

Sally is new to mini-doll form. Other than her hair, the rest uses new elements.
lego sally minidoll
  • Hair Long and Straight, Center Parted in Dark Red (6604970 | 41612), also used for the Sally LEGO® Minifigures version in 2019.
  • Mini-doll Head with print in Light Aqua (6592960)
  • Mini-doll Torso with print in Light Aqua (6604974)
  • Mini-doll Hips and Mid-Length Skirt with print in Dark Turquoise (6605041)

There have been two previous Sally minifigures, but this is the first mini-doll version.  I'm glad they used the dark red hair from the original 2019 LEGO Minifigures version (seen on the left above) for the mini-doll. The Sally on the right is from the LEGO® Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas set, but my own personal favourite is the 2019 CMF version.

Rare elements

In one previous set:

In two previous sets:

  • 1x Plant, Plate 1 x 1 Round with 3 Leaves in Black (6578319 | 32607)
  • 1x Plant, Leaf/Petal 4 x 6 x 1 1 / 3 in Magenta (6519960 | 7096)

Sticker sheet

There's a small sticker sheet included that has four stickers.

Build

We start off creating the flowerpot base which uses the light bluish grey 6x6x1 curved brick and 1x4 sand blue curved windscreen (6602216 | 35299) to create four main faces. These are interspersed with the 1x4x1⅔ sand blue curved slopes (6602221 | 3573) to give a somewhat curvaceous pot.

As with the three previous flowerpot sets, the base has a hinged side that allows the pot to open and reveal two small internal play areas. Theres a preparation area on the left with a pot and spoon, most of the details come from the 4x4 sticker.  On the other side a basket with blue violet flower inside sits unpot a little table. The round window and details are again a 4x4 sticker.

The colours and printed patterns all tie in nicely to the decorations on mini-doll Sally's outfit. Spot the little cross with 'HEN BANE' sticker, the same as appears in Sally's secret cemetery garden in the movie.

The main flower uses five 4x6x1⅓ leaf elements attached to a black 'Sonic ring' (3917).

The central portion of the flower uses a microphone (18740) to represent the stigma, while horns (88513) represent the stamen.

Each of the three flower buds are made simply, but effectively.  The blue violet colour looks great with black.

The decorations on top are a nod to some moments in the movie. The pumpkin head is obvious, of course, and there's also Sally's secret herb garden located within the graveyard of Halloween Town.

The set is reminiscent of the deadly nightshade plant in the movie. The new printed deadly nightshade element really seals the deal here, but the black stems and leaves look the part.

The internal areas are not specific to the movie although the stickers capture most of the details, including the iconic spiral hill scene. The blue violet flower in the bag also represents a scene from the movie when Sally picks the petals off the flower to predict the future; a "he loves me, he loves me not" moment.

Conclusion

The nicest new elements in the set are undoubtedly the new curves in sand blue plus the 6x6x1 curved brick; if a large, curvy new mould is going to appear unprinted in a new colour, it might as well be light bluish grey, well in time for Shiptember. The blue violet flowers are the perfect colour to go with the black stem and leaves.

The set itself is an ongoing remake of the flowerpot series featuring an opening pot, a flower of some sort, a mini-doll and an animal companion.

The concerning thing about this set is the price, as it costs more than the other flowerpots.

LEGO Flowerpot sets value comparison

SET Pieces RRP Price per part
43288 Sally's Flowerpot 346 £44.99/$49.99/€49.99 13.0p/14.4c/14.4c
76784 Wednesday's Black Dahlia 358 £19.99/$27.99/€24.99 5.6p/7.8c/7.0c
43252 Moana's Flowerpot 619 £39.99/$39.99/€44.99 6.5p/6.5c/7.3c
43237 Isabela's Flowerpot 649 £39.99/$39.99/€44.99 6.2p/6.2c/7.0c

Given that both Moana and Isabela are also Disney IPs, and their sets likewise contain one mini-doll, a companion animal and a small sticker sheet, there's no denying that this is a significant increase in price per piece – double or more! Not only is Sally's Flowerpot several hundred elements smaller, it is also a higher retail price. I would suggest the only difference is that The Nightmare Before Christmas is popular with adults, however the age mark on this set is 9+.

It has some nice new elements and is a cute set with a welcome new mini-doll character for those who like them... but I can't get over that price. If you can, please use our affiliate link to purchase!

  1. Unfortunately a somewhat timely review, publishing right after the passing of Sally's voice actress, Catherine O'Hara... Sally looks fantastic as a mini-doll... the fig was decent but the classic minifig dot eyes just aren't ideal for Sally's wide-eyed expressions.

The printed petals are neat—between these printed versions and the co-injected versions from the upcoming Magnolia Branches, Lego keeps showing off new possibilities for these broad petals!

    1. It's true that Sally suits being a minifigure for her wide eyes and long limbs, it's just a shame that I'm personally not a fan of mini-dolls. I do think they get better decorations often but they just don't work for me as they slide off seats, cannot hold things and overbalance.
