Despite being released in January 2025, Brick Round Corner 2 x 2 x 1 (5924) has been surprisingly absent in sets – but why? Today we try to answer just that, as we analyse the latest member of the macaroni family.

LEGO® Sonic the Hedgehog™: new parts for August 2024

Like some kind of speed-crazed blue rodent, LEGO® Sonic the Hedgehog™ sets aren't slowing down. Now officially in the second year of playsets, the video game theme released three sets in August 2024: 76997 Tails' Adventure Boat, 76998 Knuckles and the Master Emerald Shrine, and 76999 Super Sonic vs. Egg Drillster; each packed with recolours, new prints, and more rare elements. 

That might be as expected, but were you expecting a new LEGO® Technic brick mould? Neither was New Elementary! Read on to see how The LEGO Group has stepped it up in each of the newest Sonic sets.

LEGO® Sonic The Hedgehog™ new moulds review & MOC

Earlier this year the LEGO® Sonic The Hedgehog™ theme expanded into play-set territory bringing with it some interesting new moulds. Today I'll be taking a look at their connections, exploring the similarities they have with existing parts and using them in a couple of MOCs.

Sonic is on a roll. After an appearance in LEGO® Dimensions and LEGO® Ideas, the franchise has gotten its own theme. We will give you a full report on all the new elements in this theme soon, but first we take a look at another incarnation of the blue hedgehog and the double-tailed fox, in the form of two LEGO® BrickHeadz™ sets. 

 

At first glance, they appear to be just another addition in the long lineup of Brickheadz sets, but inside both characters, element fans find an interesting surprise.

Having a LEGO® Ideas submission hit 10,000 supporters is an exciting prospect for any builder hoping to see their design show up on store shelves. When the review period rolls around, that excitement can get mixed with anticipation and anxiety - so imagine having the submission held back “for further consideration” multiple times! Thankfully, the “Sonic Mania - Green Hill Zone” submission has now materialized as set 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog™ Green Hill Zone. 

Like all Ideas sets, this went through some changes - big and small - during the process of being redesigned from submission into product. Compared to the submission’s ~700 pieces, 21331 got bumped up to 1125 parts coming in at $69.99 / £59.99 / €69.99 / 119.9 AUD / 89.99 CAD.
