LEGO® Friends January 2026 sets: overview and all recolours

The January 2026 wave of LEGO® Friends sets are now available, and there's a lot of sets to look through. Our first article has a detailed look at the new moulds in January LEGO Friends sets.  Now it is time to see what lovely recolours and new prints are included.

42675 Unicorn Cake Delivery Car

This 4+ set comes with Paisley and Leo in party mode – I love Paisley's fun unicorn shirt. Unicorns and cakes are popular with the younger age group so I imagine this as a pocket money or small gift set for younger LEGO Friends fans.

With only 67 elements, this is a small set but it does come with one main recolour: the vehicle base in lavender. There are no stickers; three printed elements add the main unicorn and cake details to the delivery car.

42677 Dog Treats Bakery

42677 Dog Treats Bakery comes with two mini-dolls: Sage in the pink cowboy hat, and Aliya. There are also four pups hanging out at the bakery; Frenchie, Waffles, Aira and Chip are all hoping for some tasty treats.



The bakery has an outside area with seats for the pups and two entrances, one for the dogs and the other for their humans. The inside has a counter with the different treats on display, a coffee (or perhaps a puppuccino) machine and the new contactless payment tile. The other side of the awning has an area for pups to be served.  

I really like the dark azure and orange combination for the roof and awning in this set. Again many of the details are added through stickers sadly,  but that does segue on to my favourite detail in the set...


...the sticker that is placed on the door: NO CATS, or maybe it's just this particular grumpy cat* who is banned.

This cute set has four dogs and two humans included. The little cart fits a couple of dogs, depending on who needs a rest. There is one rather exciting recolour, but only one is provided: the bright green pneumatic T-Piece, which will have use in MOCs I'm sure. It also comes in a more plentiful 6x within 11504 Peace Lily which Tom reviewed last month. 

Overall, I think this simple 6+ set has some appeal as animals are always a draw, especially with those cute hats.

42678 Pet Accessories Van

Set 42678 Pet Accessories Van is a good way to get hold of some cute animals and the new pin accessories. 

There's a few recolours included – useful if you want to build a light yellow vehicle – and, to my great surprise, the Gear Shifter with Groove (3584), which is used to wag the tail as the pug van is pushed along. So far the gear shifter element has only been in one large expensive set, 42172 McLaren P1. 

The set includes Nova and Aliya mini-dolls in new outfits and a little bone shaped mascot that I presume is part of their marketing campaign.

42679 Heartlake City Bunny Hotel

Set 42679 Heartlake City Bunny Hotel contains two new bunnies: Snowball (white) is exclusive to this set while Honey (ochre yellow) also comes with 42689 Heartlake City Friends Club House.


With an age mark of 5+, this bijou hotel is a simple set for younger LEGO fans to build independently. Other than the bunnies and its new Blue Violet recolours, there's not much here to justify the cost for parts, with a price per piece of 12.4p/12.4c/15.5c. The printed round tile with a bunny face could be fun to experiment with, though.

42680 Heartlake City Convenience Store

Includes Autumn, Zac and Dango the pup. There's a little recycling point that uses the new printed 2x2  round tile with  recycling print (6581551). The glass bottle can be pushed through the arch to land in the collection point on the other side. 

This set is appealing as there are a lot of accessories: printed tiles and bricks, and food elements like apple, carrots, cherries, chicken drumstick and more. Definitely a value for money set if you are looking for that sort of element.

42681 Axolotl Adventure Boat

This is an extremely cute little set with the new axolotl mould in two colours. It includes mini-dolls Zac and Alba with the two axolotls going on an adventure on their axolotl-shaped row boat. 

There are two axolotls; Opal (light aqua) is exclusive to this set, whilst Bubbles (bright pink) also comes in 42687 Liann's Family House. The axolotls are adorable of course and they are great colour combinations; the added satin is a nice touch. This will be a popular set for this reason, plus its quite a fun little pocket money set.

One of my favourite recolours in this set, the 1x4 brick in trans-bright green is a lovely element. Transparent elements always look great, as they have no tubes inside. 

The other exciting new element is a more general one: the 'middle bracket' 1 x 2 - 2 x 2 Centred (7694). This, however is its only appearance out of the whole January LEGO Friends wave. Thankfully you'll find it in plenty of other sets in different themes.

42684 Unicorn Dream Café

Set 42684 Unicorn Dream Café includes Paisley, Aliya and Iza mini-dolls.  The cafe has a great main entrance: a unicorn with a rainbow mane that travels all the way down to the floor. The roofs of the two detachable side areas have clouds with starry decorations on the walls. There is a separate small seating area with a tree that can be positioned wherever you choose.

The rear of the cafe has the drinks area on the left with a blender to make smoothies. The central area has another cloud table and some cakes on display. The area on the far right has a rotating cake with smaller treats at the base. The oversized smoothie and ice cream on the roof are a cute touch.



The main play feature of this set is storytelling and play. The treats can be arranged, there's imaginative fun with making and serving the smoothies, and there's three different cloud tables plus a takeaway bar. 

My 9-year old daughter built this set and enjoyed the process. Her favourite parts were the unicorn entrance and making the little display of cakes and smoothies. She thinks that the minifigure posing stand (65578) is only "a straw" so I will have to get her to take inspiration from Jonas Kramm's fantastic furniture.  She gave the set 8/10 based purely on her own private assessment that I was not party to, but said she preferred minifigures as the mini-dolls kept falling off their seats.

42685 Heartlake City Fashion Show

Set 42685 Heartlake City Fashion Show comes with three mini-dolls: Nova, Liann and Paisley. Each get their own LEGO Stanley-style cup, and a selection of clothing and accessories. They cannot swap clothes at this fashion show, as they all have different skin tones. 

The items on the top floor all have little handles on the stand to make removing them easier.  There are 'splat' gears in the base to allow a 'reveal' moment, when the black and white wall turns to reveal the new outfit.


There's a studio light and camera that attach to either side of the stage and the little vanity table has a range of items like brush, perfume, lipstick and I think the paintbrush is masquerading as eyeliner here!


The building itself is rather flat and upright; not a very exciting building process. On the plus side, the use of the trans-purple bricks and glass looks great and the new printed windows are smart. The random  single dark green leaf stuck to each top side of the building look like mould to me – it's a little random.


There's a selection of pin accessories with spares as always, plus the torso for Nova, a pink wig, a scarf and then new skirt cloth element. The recoloured fur coat is also mentioned below.  

I'm not a big fan of this set as it's really a cuboid block containing a bunch of mini-doll items. I'm clearly not the target audience but lots of the little accessories are easily lost, and although the different skin tones are great for representation, they do limit the fun of clothes swapping at a fashion show – other mini-dolls will be required for that. The rotating reveal stage is a nice touch but it is a little fiddly to get the mini-doll into the narrow space. The three Stanley cups are on point though!

42686 Fun Indoor Playground

Set 42686 Fun Indoor Playground comes with three mini-dolls: friends Liann and Nova who have come to play, plus Sonia who wears a "Playland" uniform and serves slushies and keeps an eye on things. 

The main part of the playset is three connecting portions with semi-circular decorations in lime, medium azure and yellow.  



The medium azure section has the entrance with a gumball machine and then and alien shooting game above it. The lime section has a climbing net which leads to a "the floor is lava" balance obstacle with spinning LEGO® Technic connectors. There's a small roundabout at the base behind the climbing net.  





Finally we have the yellow area, with a slide through the two swinging obstacles into the ball pit below. There's a slushie bar with the rather cool-looking dispenser towards the rear.


There are also two side builds: a dance game, and a ride-on game that has a movement function when you turn the gear.

There's quite a lot of play and storytelling options in this set with the obstacles, firing games, slide and side-games. The entrance area and the roundabout look a little plain in comparison but the ride-on game with its movement is good fun. 

It's a colourful build with many details reliant on stickers. This is likely to be a fun 7+ set for a young audience; my 9-year-old built it and felt it was for younger children. In terms of parts, the three different recolours for the 5 x 5 x 1 curved corner are great to see, but there's not a huge amount of new elements here.

42688 Horse Stable & Riding Academy

This set contains three mini-dolls – Liann, Cindy and Aliya – who are sporting some newly recoloured helmets in magenta and bright light orange. There are also four animals included: Chip the new ochre yellow pup, Bear the dark grey chonky cat and the two horses Coco (dark orange) and Thunder (grey).


There is a main building which houses a stable on either end and then a central area for planning, cleaning and storage. The main doors slide open with simple but smooth mechanism using the door rail elements. It was nice to see the whole central floor being tiled as it looked good all finished.  Most of the finer details are stickers with a checklist for the horses, some horse books and a trophy and rosette display.


The horses can be cleaned using the spray but its a shame there is no water spray coming out; only a puddle is supplied.



There's an attic sleep area with two beds and some more notes and pens in the drawers, plus some food and water for pets.


The main side build is a tack area with the saddles and bridles handing up and a box of brushes and accessories.  The flowers are a nice touch as always.


I really like the colour scheme for this set. The combination of the dark pink with dark blue and medium nougat looks fantastic. There's a lot of stickers, and the details all rely on them for decoration e.g. the opening barn doors and the interior of the training room.  

There's enough minif-dollss, horses and jumps to make this a fun play set, if the child likes riding and horses of course. The building itself seemed a little empty but perhaps this is just because half of the floor plan is taken up with the stables that are empty inside, other than the horses. Love that tiled floor though!

42692 Ice Cream & Balloon Stand

This is a little pocket money set with two mini-dolls: Liann and Paisley. There's a new colour for the bike frame that turns into a cargo bike for the mobile ice cream stand. The cute mascot that matches one of the ice lollies is a nice addition. A small set with nothing too much in terms of new elements but as someone who loves bikes, I'm happy to see a new colour for the frame.

42695 Horse & Baby Foal Trailer

Set 42695 Horse & Baby Foal Trailer comes with the two mini-dolls Autumn and Matilde, plus Henry the horse, Dawn the foal, Aira the puppy and Hopper the adorable frog.


Both the car and trailer are simple in construction and utilise the new mould 4 x 4 brick with axle hole (7796). The chassis are quick and simple to construct in this 7+ set, although for some reason the pink hub caps seem out of place to me as lavender to match the trailers would have been better. The colour scheme of lime, yellowish-green and lavender is appealing with quite a few yellowish-green recolours to form the trailer. 

With two mini-dolls, four animals and a nice play function to transport the horse to a pond and picnic area, I can see this as an attractive set for the price, despite the price per part being on the edge of decent value, at 9.0p/ 10.7c/ 10.7c.

42696 Animal Vet Clinic

  • Release date: 1 January 2026

This is another 4+ set, with a simple vet clinic with stable and kennel. The stable can be attached to the clinic or separated for play.  The matching colours of the stable and kennel is a cute little detail. The vet clinic has washing/treatment areas for the animals and a cupboard with medical accessories. 

At 17.7p/ 21.3c/ 21.3c this set does not have a great price per piece, but the new Reddish Orange chonky cat Poppy is a plus and there's a few exclusive recolours. One for the younger fans only.


There are two mini-dolls and four small animals in the set. From the left we have Zac, Poppy, Dango, Ginger, Giggles the rabbit and Valeria the vet. 

The final animal in the set is Duke, the white horse.  As always, mini-dolls have an unusually acrobatic riding position, and ride standing in the saddle thanks to their body shape. Thankfully Valeria is wearing a helmet!

42699 Beach House with Seals

  • Release date: 1 January 2026
  • Pieces: 400

The set comes with three mini-dolls: Paisley, Leo and Liann. There are also two seals that are new moulds, and they are called Finn and Shelly.



The beach house has three floors with outside details like the swing doors into the changing area, balcony with eating area, look-out window in the attic bedroom and solar panels on the roof. The seals have a little detachable pier with rock formation that allows them to slide into the water.


The beach house is on stilts with a sandy area underneath. There's a changing trom, shaded area and then upstairs an outside table area and then a food prep area with a blender and orange juice on the go.



The recoloured hammock in pink and white hangs in the shaded area while some secret treasure lies under the sand on the other side.



At the far end there's a palm tree, a changing area with shower and soap dispenser.  The more colourful details for the rug and towel holder area and surfboard decorations are all stickers.

One of the troubling overall issues I have with mini-dolls are their fixed wrists. I generally find mini-dolls a little harder to pose than minifigures; they have a tendency to slide off the seats, they have to stand up on a horse to ride, the need special handlebars for bicycles, and it seems they also they need odd methods to hold a paddle. Hence we have Liann holding it with a pair of tongs to try and paddle one-handed!


Overall this is a nice set, with the new seals and enough in the beach house to just about call it a house.  There's not too many details in the 'kitchen' so I've called it a food prep area!  

This set is light on recolours and quite a few of the more colourful details rely on stickers once more.  With a price per piece of 11.2p/12.5c/12.5c, this is not a great value set at retail but there are enough details and play accessories to entertain, and it was an enjoyable build.

Conclusion

Well, that was an epic list of new elements! Overall, there are a good number or new moulds, recolours and new prints across this wave of January LEGO Friends sets.  

As mentioned there are a few sets that I will look at in more detail which are the ones with the most of the new colours: 42687 Liann's Family House, 42689 Heartlake City Friends Club House and 42691 Garden Restaurant.
