Review: 10349 Happy Plants from LEGO® Botanicals

Posted by Ben Davies

As a result of transitioning from a subtheme of LEGO® Icons to its own theme earlier this year, LEGO® Botanicals has seen the introduction of several sets geared towards younger builders. The latest of these sets is 10349 Happy Plants, released at the start of June 2025.

Interestingly, all elements in the model, including newly recoloured elements, use the older 226 Cool Yellow material formulation, rather than the updated 427 Cool Yellow formulation that was introduced earlier this year with the intent of reducing color variation across parts.

Decorated parts

Two new decorated tiles have been introduced for the cartoon faces found on the pots.

Outside of recoloured and decorated elements, a handful of elements in the set can be considered rare.

Building experience

Construction of the pots and interchangeable plants are split across two separate instruction booklets, allowing multiple people to build both potted plants in the set simultaneously.

Both pots follow a relatively straightforward building process, beginning with the assembly of a cross-section of the pot. Exposed studs are left on either side of the cross-sections to allow the front and back faces of the pots to be attached later on. A gap is left in the center for purposes to be revealed shortly.

To complete the pots, the remaining faces are assembled by layering plates, bowed bricks, and tiles. While a simple construction, it effectively achieves rounded edges on the pots when attached vertically to the cross-section built previously.

a completed plant: many dark green leaves, a brown column of "earth" and some little tan roots

To capture the narrow leaves of the dracaena plant in a rosette formation, a combination of Windscreen 6 x 4 x 1 Hexagonal with Handle (27262) and Plant, Leaf 2 x 6 x 1 with 2 Studs (3565) are arranged around a LEGO® Technic axle using Technic Pin Connector Round with 4 Clips (90202, 49756) and Technic Axle Connector Hub with 4 Bars at 90°, Reinforced Axle Hole (68888).

the other completed plabt. the base is identical but the plant has green stems with dark green disc-shaped leaves

The pilea, more commonly known as the Chinese money plant, uses a mix of Shield Round Bowed (75902) and Road Sign Clip-on 2 x 2 Round (65570) to create the distinctive rounded leaves of the plant, connected to stems via Bar 1L with Clip (3484).

Completed model

In contrast to previous sets in the LEGO Botanicals theme, this set places as much if not more emphasis on the pots as the plants they contain. Each is imbued with personality through their posing and decorations, with bright colors leading them to pop when placed on display.

The aforementioned gaps in the center of the pot allow the builder to easily "repot" the plants found in the set. Adding to this unexpected play feature, lifting the plants out of the pots reveal tiny roots!

Despite their small size, the plants themselves manage to retain the detail of the larger sets in the LEGO Botanicals range. The ability to customize the set is greatly appreciated, and is something I would appreciate seeing in future LEGO Botanicals sets which feature multiple plants.
