The same head mould is shared among the 4 members of the Heeler family. The heads feature a hole on the top to insert accessories such as crowns and goggles.
I can't find a mould number, but we should know this come 1 June.
The eponymous Bluey is available in all 3 sets.
You'll have to dish out the big dollabucks to complete the Heeler family, as Bandit appears in just one set and it's the most expensive:
.
Bluey's playmate Chloe is not a Blue Heeler, so a special head element has been created just for her! She also gets a unique torso with front, back, and arm printing plus a set of small printed legs. Chloe is exclusive to the smallest of the three sets,
.
- 1x Head Dalmatian in White (6536569)
- 1x Legs with print in White (6541710)
- 1x Torso with print in White (6549033)
Jeremy, Chattermax and Longdog
Three characters appear as printed bricks rather than as minifigures.
Two of them, Jeremy the long-suffering garden gnome and Bluey's noisy toy Chattermax, are so good they're listed alongside the minifigures on the front of the box.
The third, Longdog, is a recurring visual Easter egg,
present in the background of various Bluey episodes, and he also appears in printed pieces in these
Bluey LEGO sets. What a fun touch to include this gag! My daughter – who was a big help in assembling these sets – had a giggle seeing him appear in each of the 3 sets.
Can you find him in the images in this article? He gets a little trickier to spot as the sets get larger!
The LEGO Bluey minifigures backlash
There's always a bit of an issue with translating a 2D character to a 3D figure – they never look quite right – and these figures were certainly divisive when images of these sets first appeared online. The designers at LEGO have also had to consider how to make these figures as playable as possible (lest we forget these are actually toys intended for young children!) which for example would explain the lack of tail elements, to enable them to sit on chairs and in vehicles.
As an adult fan, I probably would have preferred a more accurate depiction of the characters; I can imagine a mould that extends down below the neck to better integrate the head and body, although that would come at the expense of a head that can look from side to side. A tail element to sit on the hips would also work wonders to make these more faithful representations of the characters. However, again this would seriously hinder posability and playability, which is important in a playset.
As a parent who watched their 4-year-old recreate the events of numerous Bluey episodes on the kitchen table for days after assembling the sets, I think LEGO made a good design choice with these figures.
11201 Playground Fun with Bluey
The smallest and least expensive of the 3 LEGO Bluey sets, the selling point of this set is the exclusive minifigure of Bluey's Dalmatian friend Chloe. Excluding the new minifigure heads, there are no new moulds in this set.
New prints
Other than the minifigure parts, there is just 1 new print in this small set:
- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Tic Tac Toe Playground Equipment, Ladybird and Dog print in Trans-Clear (6541711)
Although not functional, I think this printed glass panel is a lovely inclusion, adding a little more detail and immersion to the finished set.
Recolour
Set 11202 contains a single recoloured element:
- 1x Plate 2 x 14 in Dark Pink (6544503 | 91988)
Rare pieces
In contrast to the small number of prints and recolours, there's a pretty good number of rare elements for a small set:
- 1 x Brick Round 4 x 4 Centre Hole in Bright Yellow/ Yellow (6310222, 6490950 | 87081) in 2 sets
- 2 x Plate Special 8 x 9 x 2/3 with 1 x 4 Recessed in Brick Yellow/ Tan (6223192 | 15624) in 1 set and also in 11202
- 1 x Plant, Leaves, Round 2 x 2 x 2/3 with + Axle Hole and 4 Leaf Extensions in Flame Yellowish Orange/ Bright Light Orange (6525787 | 15469) in 3 sets
- 3 x Door Frame Double 2 x 8 x 6 in Bright Bluish Green/ Dark Turquoise (6478821 | 80400) in 2 sets
- 1 x Fence Spindled 1 x 4 x 2 [4 Top Studs] in Lavender (6529032 | 15332) in 1 set
- 2x Plate Special 8 x 9 x 2/3 with 1 x 4 Recessed in Tan (6544502 | 15624) also in 11202, and last seen in 2018
The build
Even though it is the smallest of the 3 Bluey LEGO sets, this colourful set still provides plenty of fun.
The model most closely resembles the playground featured in the episode Seesaw.
For a super-simple build, the set captures the essence of a fun trip to the park. The slide element was a big hit with my daughter, placing all manner of things at the top and letting them ride down.
There's not much to see from the back of the model. The area under the climbing frame provides a little place to play shop, which had my daughter enthused. The pelican ride is a sweet little build, and pretty faithful to the aesthetics of the show.
Although it looks basic, I was surprised how much play we got out of this set. Even though it is relatively cheap compared to the other offerings from the LEGO Bluey theme, this set ends up looking quite big thanks to the use of lots of large elements, which ups its perceived value.

11202 Bluey's Beach and Family Car Trip

New moulds
As well as the specialised minifigure head mould shared between the 3 minifigures in this set – Bluey, Bingo, and Chilli – 11202 Bluey's Beach and Family Car Trip contains 4 other new moulds which all relate to the car. This is not surprising: vehicles are a traditional source of new LEGO elements, and this set is aimed at 4-year-olds with limited building abilities.
Vehicle Base 6 x 12
- 1x Vehicle Base 6 x 12 in Reddish Orange (6508849 | 8699)
This new prefab car chassis looks like a good base for young builders to assemble a car; the interior is roomy and there are plenty of studs on every outer surface for customisation.
Notably, this element lacks the axles common on other ready-to-go chassis. They are instead fitted into a new wheel element that we'll look at shortly.
There isn't an awful lot to say about this element but in order to fit a 6-wide seat (yet another new mould I'm about to discuss), the chassis becomes a little wider in the middle. Six modules plus a bracket at each end provides the same width.
Wheel Rim 24 x 12 with Black Tyre and Axle
Prefab LEGO car elements have always had axles on the chassis rather than on the wheels – up until now.
- 4x Wheel Rim 24 x 12 with Black Tyre and Bright Light Blue Axle in Flat Silver (6544253 | 66727)
These elements appear to be the same as the existing Wheel Rim 24 x 12 with Black Tyre (
72206) with a pre-fitted axle. The only logical reason we can think of for this extra expenditure on TLG's part is that this pre-assembly must somehow be easier for young children to use; removing a potential frustration point.
A downside is the limitations it places on re-use: there are already a lot of chassis with pins, which won't work with these wheels. Given the wheel already exists without the axle, it's not an issue for adult builders.
Plate 6 x 6 with 4 Handles
- 1x Plate 6 x 6 with 4 Handles in Reddish Orange (6508846 | 6686)
This rather pretty large element forms the car roof which, with only two of the handles connected, can swing open. It will be interesting to see what other sets end up using it.
It's not quite a "
POOP" because to attach the existing plates with handle to a 6x6 plate, further elements to secure them would be required. This might not have been desirable for the aesthetics and/or, more likely, the building experience for 4-year-olds.
Panel 3 x 6 Car Seat with 4 Studs [2 Seats]
Of the 4 new moulds introduced in the set, I think this one will be the most interesting for adult builders.
- 2x Panel 3 x 6 Car Seat with 4 Studs [2 Seats] in Tan (6524384 | 7178)
Used for the car interior, this new mould reminds me a little of the
vehicle bases (30149) that were used in LEGO® Adventurers vehicles – especially as they're in tan.
I can imagine it used as a seating solution for bus and train stops in a LEGO city, or maybe even as some architectural relief on an old stone building.
This new element provides a comfy looking seat for minifigures. Attached to the studs, the minifigure can recline a little and the seat itself is very roomy.
The curve of the backrest is not a perfect quarter-circle of constant radius, as the gap below the yellow element in the above left image shows.
The orange 1 x 1 curved slope (above right) matches the lower end of the curve nicely but not perfectly – I couldn't get the element flush with the seat. The aqua D-SNOT is used to attach it didn't reach, and a bracket was too much.
These shots give an idea of how the element fits in the LEGO System. It mostly does; though the divide between the two seats is just shy of a module thick, and the backrest at its thinnest point is a little over a plate thick.
Finally – and I've probably over-analysed this element – the angle of those little slopes either side of the seats lies somewhere between a 18° slope (e.g. the grateless cheese 5404) and a 10° slope (4569, pictured above in bright light yellow).
These new vehicle elements cut out all the trifficult steps involved in building a vehicle, providing an instant car so young builders can get straight into the action rather than fussing about with multiple small elements. They look like useful parts for younger inexperienced builders but adult builders may not get much out of them.
New prints
In addition to the new printed minifigure parts, 11202 also contains 2 new printed elements:
- 1x Tile 2 x 6 with Car Front print in Reddish Orange (6536506)
- 1x Wedge Curved 4 x 4 No Top Studs with Fishtail Sandcastle print in Tan (6536505)
The tan wedge has only been available unprinted in one other set released 4 years ago (hopefully it will become available again soon). Likewise, an unprinted reddish orange 2x6 tile has only appeared in 1 other set.
Recolours
- 1x Treasure Chest Bottom with Rear Slots, No Groove in Blue (6545698 | 4738c)
Amongst this treasure trove of new elements in the LEGO Bluey line we do actually get a treasure chest! This element is paired with a white lid in the set to simply – yet brilliantly – portray an "Esky" (cooler box).
- 2x Brick 1 x 3 in Reddish Orange (6546609 | 3622)
- 2x Brick 1 x 6 in Reddish Orange (6546607 | 3009) also appears in 11203 Bluey's Family House
- 2x Slope 65° 2 x 1 x 2 in Reddish Orange (6546610 | 60481)
- 3x Slope 33° 3 x 2 in Reddish Orange (6546608 | 3298)
Rare pieces

- 1 x 80835 Treasure Chest Lid, Flat with 2 Studs in White (6437723 | 80835) in 3 other sets
- 2 x 43719 Wedge Plate 4 x 4 with 2 x 2 Cutout in Brick Yellow/ Tan (6452913, 4180435, 4234935 | 41822) in 2 other sets
- 1 x 33909 Plate Special 2 x 2 with Only 2 Studs in Flame Yellowish Orange/ Bright Light Orange (6498126 | 33909) in 2 other sets
- 1 x 90397 Sports Surfboard Standard in Lavender (6516594 | 17947) in 3 other sets
- 1x Plate Special 8 x 9 x 2/3 with 1 x 4 Recessed in Tan (6544502 | 15624) also in 11202, last seen 2018
The finished model
The finished set illustrates a colourful and exciting trip to the seaside featuring some fun and simple builds like a palm tree and sandcastle.
The sand mermaid is a simple but effective play feature to recreate the events of the episode
The Beach. The small sculpture on the right comes from
Stickbird. With only 3 elements, the resemblance to
the 'stickbird' seen on screen is somewhat impressive.
My favourite part of this set is the car. While it's no speed champion, the proportions and simplicity of the vehicle has some charm. The door handles and wing mirrors are a nice inclusion. Belying their simplicity, it's clear a lot of thought goes into these sets.
There's plenty of room inside for the whole Heeler family and ample boot space for a bunch of accessories. There's also room on the roof for surfboards and an Esky.
Speaking of accessories, This medium-sized set contains plenty of them to play out all kinds of beach adventures. When I was a child, I loved getting these small trinkets in sets. I think they add a ton of play value to the set and even a little subliminal educational value: I appreciate the inclusion of the 50SPF sunscreen! The lavender surfboard and crab were the elements that most impressed my daughter.

New moulds
Like the 2 smaller sets, we get the new minifigure head element. Bluey's Family House contains an additional new element: a minifigure cape. Perfect for a game of queens!
- 1x Cape in 5 Colors (6544481)
This new minifigure accessory elicited a squeal of 'So beautiful!' from my daughter upon removing it from its protective box. She clearly wasn't fazed by the bold '©LEGO' text bleeding through from the underside of the element.
New prints
Whackadoo! look at all these printed elements: 14 new designs excluding minifigure parts!
First, some new panels which are mostly printed on both sides – something which I have never seen before in a LEGO set:

- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Front Door and 3 Pane Window print, and Map, Bunting, Gecko, Drawings and Unicorns print, in Bright Light Yellow (6541720)
- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Boards and Red Roof print, and Shower Accessories print, in Bright Light Yellow (6541716)
- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Boards and 3 Pane Window print, and Toilet Brush, Window and Mirror print, in Bright Light Yellow (6536521)
- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Boards and 3 Pane Window print, and Heeler Family Portrait, 2 Louvre Vents and Brown Netting print, in Bright Light Yellow (6536520)
- 1x Glass for Frame 1 x 6 x 6 with Boards and Bay Window print in Bright Light Yellow (6536519)
These double-sided panels provide details for both the house's interior and exterior. The playroom is the most interesting of the 5 with a few references to the show like sticky gecko, Unicorse, and Longdog (if you can spot him!). I think these elements would provide a good base for some Bluey-themed minifigure habitats, should you buy the set but not wish to display it.
Next, a couple of food-related items:
- 1x Tile Round 2 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder with Pavlova print in White (6541717)
- 1x Tile 2 x 2 with Groove with Pizza Box print in White (6541722)
Bonjour pavlova! This delicious looking element might be one of the few prints that would work well outside of the theme. The pizza box is a recreation of the charming design that appears in Pizza Girls.
Now for some 2x4 printed tiles featuring designs for the Heeler family's iconic rugs:
- 2x Tile 2 x 4 with Groove with Bones print in Yellow (6536515)
- 2x Tile 2 x 4 with Groove with Half Kiwifruit print in Medium Nougat (6541719)
- 2x Tile 2 x 4 with Groove with Half Watermelon print in Medium Nougat (6536516)
- 1x Brick Round 1 x 1 Open Stud with Garden Gnome (Jeremy) print in Light Bluish Gray (6541721)
- 1x Minifig Head with Toy (Chattermax) double-sided print in Medium Lavender (6541718)
I had to include Jeremy's blue cone hat, to present him in his full glory.
Unfortunately no spares of these adorable characters are supplied in the set, which is a shame as these tiny elements tend to go missing in a house with young children! My daughter and I like these prints very much, although I thought Jeremy has a beard...?
Bluey's favourite toy Chattermax is portrayed by a printed minifigure head. On the reverse is printed a fluffy tail.
Finally, the back drop for Bluey and Bingo's bedroom is provided by 2 large printed slopes.
- 1x Slope 25° 1 x 8 x 3 with Stars, Garland, Portrait and Half Stained Glass Round Window print in Reddish Orange (6536518)
- 1x Slope 25° 1 x 8 x 3 with Stars, Garland, Bunny and Half Stained Glass Round Window print in Reddish Orange (6536517)
This is the first time for this slope to be printed, and also to be recoloured in reddish orange.
Recoloured pieces
The already impressive list of new elements in the set grows with 9 recoloured parts.
First, some bright light yellow elements: both the tall...
- 5x Brick 1 x 2 x 2 with Inside Stud Holder in Bright Light Yellow (6544519 | 3245c)
- 6x Door Frame Double 2 x 8 x 6 in Bright Light Yellow (6538464 | 80400)
... and the long:
- 4x Brick 1 x 6 in Bright Light Yellow (6541347 | 3009)
- 2x Brick 2 x 8 in Bright Light Yellow (6541691 | 3007, 93888)
- 2x Brick 1 x 16 in Bright Light Yellow (6538512 | 2465)
The 2 x 8 brick is notable as it has only existed as a Q-part until now. Q-elements are official LEGO bricks that have never appeared in sets, often produced for Master Builder models so that large-scale models can use a broad colour palette.
The LEGO Bluey sets have been generous with reddish orange recolours. We get 4 more in this set:
- 1x Brick Round 2 x 2 Dome Top, Vented Stud in Reddish Orange (6541332 | 3262)
- 2x Slope 18° 4 x 1 in Reddish Orange (6541349 | 60477)
- 14x Brick 1 x 6 in Reddish Orange (6546607 | 3009)
- 1x Plant, Leaves, Round 2 x 2 x 2/3 with + Axle Hole and 4 Leaf Extensions in Reddish Orange (6541331 | 15469)
Rare parts
There's even room for a few rare bricks. This pastel selection currently appear in 3 sets or fewer:
- 2 x 43888 Support Round 1 x 1 x 6 Solid Pillar in Cool Yellow/ Bright Light Yellow (6380625 | 43888) in 3 other sets
- 1 x Plate Round 4 x 6 in Light Royal Blue/ Bright Light Blue (6522316 | 3766) in 1 other set
- 2 x 60481 Slope 65° 2 x 1 x 2 in Cool Yellow/ Bright Light Yellow (6441825 | 60481) in 3 other sets
- 1 x Tile 1 x 4 with Groove in Spring Yellowish Green/ Yellowish Green (6538511 | 2431) in 3 other sets
- 8 x Brick 1 x 2 in Reddish Orange (6545348 | 3004) in 2 other sets
- 5x Door Frame 1 x 4 x 6 Type 2 in Bright Light Yellow (6538463 | 40289, 60596, 66190), last seen in 1 other set from 2020
- 2 x Tile 2 x 4 with Groove in Light Nougat (6535079 | 87079) in 1 other set
The build
This playset has done a pretty good job of condensing most of the key locations from the Heeler house, although some are a little on the small side.
In contrast to the vibrant and detailed interior, the exterior is quite plain with just a few of the most important and recognisable features provided by the new printed panes.
Out in the garden, the royal poinciana isn't quite as grand as the one that appears in the show, but still recognisable. The keepy-uppy balloon also makes an appearance. Tapping on the white LEGO® Technic element will simulate the balloon bouncing up and down; just don't let it touch the grass! The makings of a muddy pizza are sitting by the tap.
Like 11202 Bluey's Beach and Family Car Trip, 11203 provides heaps of accessories for lots of role-playing and storytelling opportunities. Many are random inclusions but I think I spot a few references to the show: the bright green carrot top (33183, centre) is probably the magic asparagus from the episode Asparagus, and the dark red jar with yellow lid can must be none other than the great Australian delicacy, Vegemite!
Set 11203 on LEGO.com
Conclusion
Bluey has proven to be a pop-culture phenomenon, and the appeal of a LEGO interpretation will surely extend far beyond the 4+ age demographic. Adult fans will most likely be disappointed by these simple sets but I think they will be very popular among children of the intended age range. The sets are very thoughtfully designed with lots of potential for storytelling and roleplaying.
The sets are very generous with new elements, especially prints. After seeing how much fun my daughter had with these sets, I wouldn't call them wildly expensive, but builders probably won't want to dish out all that cash purely for the new elements or figures – let's hope these sets are popular on the aftermarket to make all those elements a little more accessible.

I think there are 2 versions of the Bluey head. The ears don't look the same. Also if you look at their backs, the duo/triple-moulding pattern is different.
ReplyDeleteYou’re correct. This is blatantly obvious by comparing the colors above the nose: printed vs moulded. The mother character has a distinctly different mould tri-moulded split along the back of the head.
DeleteI.e. Chili vs Bandit
ReplyDeleteThat car seat ( 2x Panel 3 x 6 Car Seat with 4 Studs [2 Seats] in Tan (6524384) ) looks interesting. How does it look with two minifigures placed adjacently? It's a classic quandary for car builders, as proper placement would require them placed 1.5 studs apart.
ReplyDeleteI could definitely see the new car seat being used as a frieze/cornice on an old-town style building, though turning a corner would be an issue (and achieving a similar effect could be done with smaller parts). Is it possible to use the gaps on the backside as anti-studs? They wouldn't have much grip but they look to be the correct width.
ReplyDeleteI also immediately thought of the Adventurers cab piece when seeing it, I wonder if that element is fully retired or if it's on the "not retired but not in circulation" list... I'm still quite fond of it!
This is a weird pull and only barely related, but back during the early teaser campaign for the Piraka in late 2005 I thought they would end up being proportioned similar to the on-model version of these characters, sort of stubby with heads that were basically on the fronts of their bodies. So I got sort of the same experience as people did seeing these minifig versions when I saw that the Piraka were fairly standard lanky humanoids.
