New moulds

Windscreen 18 x 8 x 6 Curved with 3 Pin Holes (7219)

Let's start with the biggest and shiniest new mould in the set.

very large transparent lego cockpit windscreen

The ginormous 18 x 8 x 6 Windscreen in Trans-Clear (6528129 | 7219) arrives safe and sound in its own paper-based bag – no nasty scratches here.

At the front is a 2x2 anti-stud connection with centre tube. The rear has a staggered row of anti-studs, three LEGO Technic pin holes and 4 recessed studs up top.

Readers familiar with its predecessor, Windscreen 16 x 8 x 6 Curved with 3 Pin Holes (6072861 | 16477) from 75060 Slave 1 – later recoloured in trans-purple (6253665) for 70828 Pop-Up Party Bus – might be wondering how the new screen differs from its 10-year-old counterpart.

comparing the old Windscreen 16 x 8 x 6 Curved with 3 Pin Holes with the new Windscreen 18 x 8 x 6 Curved with 3 Pin Holes

Let's remedy that with this comparison of parts 16477 (old, shown above left) and 7219 (new, right). The three main differences are:

Size

The new screen is two modules longer and two bricks higher than the original. Doesn't sound like much, but it adds up!

Material

In 2018, polycarbonate was phased out in favour of MABS – now used for most transparent elements, including windscreens. This means the new mould has a cloudier appearance and is liable to scuff more easily than the original.

Side profile

The old screen used an obscure 6 x 2 curve for its side cut-out, which marries up with only a handful of elements like the 8 x 2 x 2 Curved Slope (41766) and 8 x 3 x 2 Curved Wedges (41750 left, and 41749 right which is pictured above in dark tan). The new mould opts for a more universal 4 x 1 curve.

Windscreen 18 x 8 x 6 Curved lying among other large lego windscreens

Here's one last comparison with some other large trans-clear screens, mostly from other UCS Star Wars sets. The new one dwarfs even the 14 x 14 x 4 Windscreen (6328313 | 73642) from 75341 Luke's Landspeeder.

"Range finder" Visor Antenna (7218)

We move from the largest new mould to the smallest.

3 copies of the new Range finder lego part 7218. One end of the piece has a short stubby pin extending from a slightly larger round end of the main stalk of the piece

Per the inventory, the set only includes one of these new range finder elements, in light bluish gray (6528128 | 7218) so I was pleasantly surprised to find not one but two spares.

Hopefully that's standard because it's a neat little element, though sadly, it's connection points aren't as useful as they seem:

3 pictures showing how the new lego Range finder part 7218 might fit with other lego pieces

Unlike the old-style lever (4593, shown above left in yellow) the range finder's rounded base is slightly too small for a proper 3.18 fit – there's virtually no clutch in the clip, and only marginally more in a minifigure hand.

The peg offers a surer connection but alas, this time it's the opposite problem of being too tight to be legal. Note, after my testing, that particular range finder felt pretty loose on Jango's helmet – so experiment with caution.

3 images: the new range finger attached to jango minifig's helmet; the same but with the old range finder; and a picture of the current Lego clone visor.

Even brand-new, the part feels a bit wobbly in the helmet – a shortcoming also true of it's predecessor (63586, shown above centre) from 2008. Perhaps the loose fit is intentional to ensure they pop off rather than snap during enthusiastic play? Still, shape-wise, the new mould is a major upgrade.

Previously, the old range finder arrived in sets bagged as a 'family pack' with the clone visor (61190c, above right) under a combined part number (72329). Since the range finder now has a separate mould, could a new visor be on the horizon too?

Brick Curved 1 x 8 (7217)

The final new mould is far more generic:

long curved lego slope in 2 colours

This studless 1 x 8 curved slope appears in two colours:
  • 2x Brick Curved 1 x 8 x 1 2/3 No Studs in White (6550948 | 7217)
  • 6x Brick Curved 1 x 8 x 1 2/3 No Studs in Dark Blue (6528124 | 7217)
Its ID number is consecutive with the previous two elements, suggesting this is indeed the first set it was required for – however, its generic nature suggests it would be a 'platform' element originally designed without a particular product in mind, so it should appear elsewhere soon enough.

2 pictures. 1: lego 1x8x1⅔ slope measured against other lego bits to highlight its dimensions. 2: the stepped underside of the piece, with a 1x1 plate attached halfway between two antistuds thanks to jagged "nail rail" dimples along the edges, as is common with lego slopes.

Its height is 5 plates, equal to 2 modules. The stepped geometry of the underside cut-out is evenly split into gradations of 1x2 plates. Note the nail rail on each step, which allows the element to be jumped by half a module.

2 pictures comparing the lego 1x8x1⅔ slope with other curved lego slopes

Here it is among similar 1 module-wide LEGO curved slopes. It's only been a matter of weeks since contributor Thomas Jenkins made a similar comparison photo of the 1x6 curved slope (6801). The newcomer definitely fits the aesthetic but a more accurate family photo is shown above right; Slope Curved 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 No Studs (3573) is the only other 1-module wide curved slope that is 2 modules tall.

3 further pictures comparing lego 1x8x1⅔ slope with other curved slopes

A match for its overall arc eluded me. I had thought a Porsche bow (77180, 4581 left & 77182, 4308 right) would do the trick but alas, its curve is a module too long and a plate too tall.

Brick Curved 4 x 4 x 1 2 / 3 No Studs (7249)

Before we dive into recolours in earnest, there's one more new-for-2025 mould to discuss that has avoided New E analysis until now:

Lego curved slope 4x4x1⅔ in two colours.

It's yet another useful curved slope, appearing here in two colours:
  • 8x Brick Curved 4 x 4 x 1 2 / 3 in Dark Blue (6548522 | 7249)
  • 2x Brick Curved 4 x 4 x 1 2 / 3 in Sand Green (6550530 | 7249)
Its first, and only other appearance to date, is in Light Bluish Gray (6532003) from 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet.

3 images of Lego curved slope 4x4x1⅔. One is a comparison to an identical but narrower slope. 2 is the piece upside down. 3 shows that it has a cutout the size of a 1x4 brick.

There's not much to discuss geometry-wise, it's really just a handy alternative to lining up four 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 curved slopes (3573). Speaking of which, you have to wonder if the 20 used for the pot in 71426 Piranha Plant prompted the introduction of this wider variant, or if it was simply the need to provide a larger surface for models requiring decoration.

Of course the underside also varies when compared to using 4 of the 1-wide version, so you may find some benefit to its 6 tube-arrangement, which is reminiscent of the classic Slope 33° 3 x 4 (3297).

curved lego bow 4x4x1⅔ compared to other slopes of the same width

It does have some kinship with a few other 4 module-wide curved slopes though. Particularly Brick Curved 4 x 6 Double, 2 x 4 Cutout (78522, shown on the left in dark azure) which can also trace its ancestry back to a 1 module-wide curved slope: the humble 1 x 3 (50950).

Recoloured elements

LEGO® Star Wars™ sets have a reputation for being more than just a little greyscale. Luckily for us, Jango's Starship bucks that trend with an earthy colour scheme that relies on a sizeable number of exclusively recoloured elements.

Let's start with one of the ship's signature hues, dark blue:

2 lego pieces
  • 12x Slope Curved 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 No Studs in Dark Blue (6547180 | 3573)
  • 2x Wedge Plate 2 x 4 27° Left in Dark Blue (6547183 | 65429)
  • 2x Wedge Plate 2 x 4 27° Right in Dark Blue (6547182 | 65426)

Dark green next, with with 3 curvy elements:

3 lego pieces
  • 6x Slope Curved 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 No Studs in Dark Green (6547181 | 3573)
  • 6x Brick Arch 1 x 3 x 1 2/3 Curved Top in Dark Green (6540221 | 5843)
  • 4x Brick Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 with Bottom Cut Outs in Dark Green (6547184 | 76795)

Although it's used sparingly on the finished model, there's quite a few goodies in sand green:

4 lego bits
  • 1x Wedge Plate 6 x 3 Left in Sand Green (6547178 | 54384)
  • 1x Wedge Plate 6 x 3 Right in Sand Green (6547179 | 54383)
  • 2x Slope Curved 3 x 2 with Stud Notch Left in Sand Green (6550528 | 80177)
  • 3x Slope Curved 3 x 2 with Stud Notch Right in Sand Green (6550529 | 80178)
  • 2x Wedge Sloped 45° 3 x 3 Right in Sand Green (6547177 | 48165)
  • 2x Slope Curved 1 x 4 x 1 2/3 No Studs in Sand Green (6547186 | 3573)

As if to poke fun at my earlier claim, we do get some exclusive light bluish grey – this is Star Wars, after all:

2 lego parts

  • 2x Technic Panel Car Mudguard Arched 9 x 2 x 3, Arched Top #42 in Light Bluish Gray (6548524 | 2459)
  • 2x Slope 25° 1 x 8 x 3 in Light Bluish Gray (6547176 | 49618)

A couple more to finish, in dark bluish gray:

curved dark grey lego blocks
  • 2x Brick Round Corner, Curved 2 x 2 x 1 2/3 Quarter Dome with 1 Cutout in Dark Bluish Gray (6542684 | 5906)
  • 4x Brick Arch 1 x 3 x 1 2/3 Curved Top in Dark Bluish Gray (6540220 | 5843)

Rare parts

On to some lesser-seen elements, this batch appearing in just 2 other sets or less.

7 lego pieces in different colours
  • 2 x Brick Sloped 1 x 6 x 1 with 1 x 2 x 1 / 3 Cutout in Dark Blue (6453181 | 4569)
  • 2 x Wedge Sloped 45° 3 x 3 Left in Sand Green (6401019 | 42862)
  • 6 x Brick Curved 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 with 1 Cutout in Dark Bluish Gray (6526021 | 5907)
  • 1 x Slope Curved 3 x 2 with Stud Notch Left in Dark Green (6375624 | 80177)
  • 1 x Slope Curved 2 x 2 with Stud Notch Left in Yellow (6506377 | 5095)
  • 1 x Slope Curved 2 x 2 with Stud Notch Right in Yellow (6506376 | 5093)
  • 2 x Slope 1 x 4 with 1 x 2 Cutout in White (6554824 | 5654)

Lastly, here's a selection of parts that have returned after several years hiatus:

5 lego parts
  • 1 x Dish 10 x 10 Inverted (Radar) with Solid Studs in Light Bluish Gray (4248833 | 51373) - Last seen 2017
  • 4x Brick Round Corner 6 x 6 x 2 in Dark Green (6547185 | 87559) - Last seen 2019
  • 1x Tile 4 x 4 Curved, Macaroni in Yellow (6547164 | 27507) - Last seen in 2020
  • 1 x 2 Hinge Plate with 1 Finger, without Groove in Tan (6533755 | 44301b) - Last seen 2005*
  • 2x Dish 4 x 4 Inverted [Radar] in Trans-Yellow (6547172 | 3960) - Last seen 2019
*Bit of a strange case: while it can also found in 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex released 2025, it's otherwise not been seen since 2005 where it had the old mould with underside groove (44301a).

Decorations

Surprisingly, the only printed element in the set besides minifigures, is the info plaque: Tile 8 x 16 with Bottom Tubes with print in Black (6536083 | 90498pr).

Conclusion

It's rare for a LEGO Star Wars set to introduce so many exclusive recolours and new moulds – especially ones that aren't just grey. At US$299.99/ £259.99/ 299.99€/ AU$499.99, it's hard to recommend 75409 Jango Fett's Starship purely as a parts pack. However, with so many nice parts in the inventory, disassembly for MOCs post-display is a route well worth considering.

  2. Thanks for this parts rundown. I don't know how Lego can call that "trans-clear" with a straight face. Should be "trans-cloudy" or something, it's anything but clear and every time I pull a MABS windscreen out of a bag I am sorely disappointed. I miss the polycarb clarity and hardness. 3. The 1x8x1 2/3 slope is curious. I'm surprised there aren't any other compatible slopes, does this represent a new family or just a one off? I'll be curious to see where else it gets used.

    1. Really feels odd after all of the thought and effort put into re-designing so many of the curved/arched elements to better reconcile with the rest of the system. It doesn’t even feel like a vital piece to this set’s design.
