Wheel 30.4 x 20 with 5 holes (part 5650) from set 10337 Lamborghini Countach

Posted by Admin

LEGO® Icons set 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole is available for LEGO® Insiders from midnight tonight (i.e. Monday 1 July 2024).

Although Kev Levell as already reviewed it for us thoroughly, we've learnt something more about one of the new moulds created for the set: Wheel 30.4 x 20 with 5 holes in Flat Silver (6481570 | 5650).

The set's new moulds were developed by element designer Yoel Mazur along with the lead designer, Sven Franic who we interviewed recently about the set. He also revealed that Yoel created the original sketch models that Sven then developed into a final LEGO product.

We love analysing new moulds here at New E, and you can read Kev's examination of the LEGO Countach's three new moulds in his parts review. For example, he discovered the five holes on the new wheel can fit ray-guns!

Shoving a ray-gun (part 13608 or 87993) into the new wheel is certainly an unintended and "illegal" connection. Indeed, Kev noted the clutch soon loosened with use.

But there is a legal connection we didn't spot, which was very much intended by Yoel, who kindly revealed it to us!

The 5 holes are positioned one module away from the central axle hole, and one of the 5 is aligned with the axle. This means you can make a legal connection like the one shown above.

But what use is this? We're not too sure!

Here are a couple of simple arrangements we came up with using LEGO part 5650: a stepped effect, and a cam crankshaft.

Do you have more ideas? Yoel – and we – would like to see what you come up with once you have the piece in hand!

4 new LEGO elements: Wheel 30.4 x 20 with 5 holes in Flat Silver (element 6481570 | part 5650); Brick Round Corner 4 x 4 x 1 with Bottom Cut Outs in White (6481567 | 5649); Slope 1 x 4 with 1 x 2 Cutout in White (6481586 | 5654); and the same mould in Dark Red (6505207 | 5654).
