LEGO® Pick a Brick: USA & Canada closure of Standard pieces

Posted by Admin

The LEGO® Pick a Brick team have advised they will be updating their North American service in 2027 to be the same as the rest of the world, where there is no distinction between "Bestseller" and "Standard" bricks. To prepare for this change, Standard bricks will cease being available in North America starting Monday 2 November 2026 until some time in Q1 2027, to provide time to migrate Standard piece stocks (currently shipped from Denmark) to the American warehouse (pictured above, apologies for the low quality). This is similar to earlier years when the entire service used to shut down to deal with holiday demand.

In short: if you are in the US or Canada and want any Standard bricks in the next 3 to 6 months, purchase them this month, as Sunday 1 November is the final day. Furthermore, LEGO® DUPLO® bricks will also go at the same time and will be gone for a longer period.

Temporary Pause of Pick a Brick Standard Parts in the USA & Canada

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Pick a Brick experience, we are expanding our North American warehouse capabilities to make the full Pick a Brick assortment available locally in the future. This expansion is already underway with 10,000+ parts now available as ‘Bestseller’, and is a major step toward faster service and broader availability of parts for builders across the United States and Canada.

To support peak holiday operations, this warehouse expansion activity will be temporarily paused, which means that any Pick a Brick Standard parts not yet migrated will become unavailable starting Monday November 2, 2026.

The final day to order Standard parts through the current setup will be Sunday November 1, 2026. While Pick a Brick Standard is closing in its current form, we expect the remaining parts to become available as ‘Bestseller’ during Q1 2027.

Please note that Duplo elements will take longer to return as part of this expansion. While Duplo remains on our roadmap and is planned to return in the future, availability is expected later than other Pick a Brick Standard elements. Customers looking to purchase Duplo parts are therefore encouraged to place their orders before November 1, 2026, as these items may not reappear for some time.

We understand that many builders rely on Pick a Brick parts for their projects, and we appreciate your patience as we complete this transition and work toward a better long-term experience.

Thank you for being part of the LEGO community. We look forward to serving you with an expanded Pick a Brick offering soon.

Funnily enough they had already removed the distinction of Standard vs Bestseller like a month ago... it also cleared out my Standard cart around that time lol.
You don't know if something's Standard until you open the pop-up window or add it to your cart and the progress bars for the service fee had been removed again.

    1. The links in the article show you what is marked as Standard. It is a deprecated filter but I understand it still works

  2. As a Canadian I'm sick of the Americans ruining everything for us due to their terrible leaders. Instead of making a new factory in New Mexico, Lego should have opened up a factory in Canada so that we wont have to rely on the U.S playing nice or not. This is the second or third time in the last few years we've been locked out of accessing Lego products because of tariffs or some other politics getting in the way. Heck we aren't even on the list for getting to try out the new SMART Brick system like we're some third world country. Did you know that in 2025, Canada sold approximately 17.6% of the North America's total revenue of 5.98 Billion USD! That's $1,052,480,000 USD in Canada and as far as I'm aware that's only accounting for sets sold not parts from pick-a-brick. But what do I know, I guess my $35,000+ Lego collection I've invested in over my last 30 plus years isn't important enough for a big corporation to acknowledge as a valued paying customer.

    1. This has zero to do with politics. They are completely revamping the NA warehouses so you can get stand and best seller at the same speed...

    2. bro I'm with you but this is an absolute misfire. Lego is pausing service to improve a giant gap in their supply chain that predictably breaks every year. This has been a long time coming and will improve service for ALL of North AND South America. And """invest""" makes me cringe inside-out. That's your decision, asking anyone else to hold that is wild. But otherwise very cool just don't embarass us again.

    3. Sorry about that. Alot of us in the US are desperately trying to get competent leaders back in office.

  3. Less whining. More building.

  4. As others have stated, this is just Lego - as a global business corporation - trying to implement a smoother operation, as they already have done in Europe for years now...

  5. I think Trump coerced LEGO to open this plant. Definitely POLITCAL. The tariffs to Canadians will counter any possible faster delivery.

  6. How will this affect new part releases going forward? July's new parts, August's?

    1. Most likely, any new part added to the North American PAB will be categorized as Bestseller in the future. Standard bricks will be phased out, and there'll be no distinction for parts.

    2. I sure hope so. With November 1st officially being the last day to order Standard parts, it would be extremely silly to drop all the new parts from July's sets as Standard for exactly one day, and then immediately take them away. I guess we'll know that day if all the new stuff gets classified as Bestseller or not.

I actually have a large MOC in progress which critically needs a significant quantity of several new parts due to drop on PAB December 1st, and if new parts don't simply appear as Bestseller going forward, I am going to have to do some sort of silly runaround via an overseas friend to try and acquire those pieces before the year is out, because they definitely won't be showing up at a reasonable price on Bricklink anytime soon.

Hopefully, all will work smoothly as you suggest, and the November 1st ordering deadline is simply for the large backlog of existing available PAB parts that are currently classified as Standard. I know that I will be checking in that day to find out. Fingers crossed...

    3. Some older Standard parts would likely be removed, still. But the distinction will disappear.

  7. Holy moly, about time. Were almost there and it took years to get here. Shoot I remember between 5 to 7 years ago, they all came from Denmark and the service was called Bricks N Pieces and max part limit was 200 per lot. Pick a Brick's catalog was horrible and took up to 13 weeks to get delivered, so slowly LEGO is improving this service. Now if they can fix the constant picking errors with Bestseller, that will be great. Pretty sad that I constantly have to over order additional pieces of elements to create a buffer room for potential missing pieces which I ALWAYS seem to have in ever Bestseller order, but the folks in Denmark seem to have their ducks in a row with no issues.

  8. I would love to see an article explaining just how these orders get 'picked'. Do people walk these aisles of bricks with an order and count them by hand?

    1. My impression was that that was roughly how it happened. Hence the occasionally long processing time...
