Review: 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot from LEGO® Nike

Posted by Thomas Jenkins

A couple of months ago I took a closer look at the Nike Dunk x LEGO® set, a bold collaboration that turned an iconic sneaker into a brick-built collectible. On 1 September 2025, The LEGO Group and Nike are back on the court with 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot—a smaller set that again pays homage to the iconic Dunk shoe, this time with a playful twist, and a hidden mini-game to boot!

Recoloured and unprinted pieces

Seven elements have been recoloured for 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot, and two pieces previously only available with decorations now come unprinted:

9 lego pieces found in 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot
  • 1x Slope Curved 4 x 2 Double [PLAIN] in White (6554416 | 7547)
  • 2x Brick Round Corner 3 x 3 x 1 No Studs in Red (6572524 | 65617)
  • 2x Brick Round Corner 2 x 2 x 1 in White (6572526 | 5924)
  • 2x Technic Brick 1 x 2 with Axle Hole Type 1 [+ Opening] and Bottom Pin in Bright Light Blue (6572519 | 32064a, 31493)
  • 3x Plate Round Corner 6 x 6 in Bright Light Blue (6572518 | 6003)
  • 4x Plate Special 1 x 2 with Pin Hole Underneath in Bright Light Blue (6572520 | 18677, 28809)
  • 6x Brick Special 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 with 4 Studs on 1 Side in Dark Bluish Gray (6572522 | 22885)
  • 1x Minifig Head Special, Basketball [PLAIN] in Orange (6551665 | 7421)
  • 1x Sports Basketball Net with Axle in Dark Bluish Gray (6572558 | 11641)
A nice selection for such a small set. Tom Loftus analyzed the 5924 round corner brick in his recent article; it's good to see this useful new element appear in so many colours so soon.

I was surprised to see that it's taken this long for the 22885 SNOT brick to appear in dark bluish grey as it is a pretty common part used for SNOT building but the highlights for me are the basketball related elements; particularly the ball.

The white 4 x 2 double curved slope is a June 2025 mould that was previously only available with an eye print in 43271 Lucky & Penny 101 Dalmatians Puppies. No other colours are available yet.

A printed version of the basketball appeared in the previous Nike x LEGO collaboration, 43008 Nike Dunk set, where it was printed and used in the minifigure (you can read an analysis of the element in my review of that set). This unprinted version makes a great accessory to personalize our minifigures with.

New decorations

Minifigure

  • 1x Hood over Cap [Plain] in Red (6552499)
  • 1x Torso in Red (6573095)
This exclusive figure has an outfit modeled on the clothing range from Nike as part the LEGO  collaboration.

The set includes 2 minifigure heads to customize your minifigure as male or female.

Sticker sheet

the sticker sheet from Lego Nike Dunk Trickshot, which has 8 stickers

The small decal sheet includes 8 stickers. Most are applied to the shoe, while the two larger ones complete the lines on the basketball court.

Overall, I think the set strikes a good balance between brick-built detail and sticker use. While building, I felt that the LEGO Design team prioritized rendering details with bricks wherever possible, using stickers mainly as a finishing touch for branding and elements that couldn’t be replicated in brick form.

New prints

2 large round lego tiles printed with basketball and nike patterns
  • 1x Tile Round 6 x 6 with print in White (6552497 | 7212)
  • 1x Tile Round 6 x 6 with print in White (6552498 | 7212)
While the set does use stickers extensively for detailing the shoe, we also get 2 new printed elements to decorate the set.

Rare elements

The following elements appear in 3 sets or fewer:

5 lego pieces
  • 1 x Plate 2 x 10 in Coral (6300590 | 3832) in 1 set
  • 2 x Tile Round 3 x 3 in  Coral (6544449 | 67095) in 1 set
  • 1 x Plate Special 4 x 4 with 3 x 3 Quarter Round Cutout in Bright Light Blue (6555105 | 35044) in 1 set
  • 1 x Bracket 2 x 2 with 1 x 2 Vertical Studs in Dark Blue (6547107 | 41682) in 2 sets
  • 5 x Plate Special 1 x 3 Rounded with 3 Open Studs in Dark Blue (6490777 | 77850) in 3 sets

Build experience

43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot is a fun set to assemble. The centerpiece of the set is the low-top Nike Dunk sneaker. I expected a building experience similar to 43008 Nike Dunk set, but at this much smaller scale, the build is completely different.

commencing construction of 43021 Nike Lego Dunk Trickshot set. The base and edges of the shoe are in place, and two long grey bars have been suspended at a diagonal along the middle of the shoe where the laces will later go

One of the standout techniques is the solution for installing the walls and laces of the shoe. A pair of bars are set at an angle to provide the attachment point and cleverly locked in place with a combination of a double-ended towball element (3170) and 1 x 3 arch.

I love the chunky look of this shoe; it would make a nice little set in its own right, like the 40486 Adidas Superstar Gift with Purchase.

Some impressive SNOT techniques are used to create the free throw lane on the basketball court base. The sticker sheet is required to finish the free throw circle.

Likewise, the lines on the backboard are brick-built. The number of SNOT techniques in this set makes for a very interesting and varied building experience, and although stickers are used for some important details, there is a clear effort to build these features with LEGO elements rather than over-relying on stickers.

swirly design made of curved lego plates and tiles and printed nike basketball pieces

The jazzy graffiti background is a comparatively simple build, made by stacking plates. A 15706 wedge plate attaches the basketball at a 45 degree angle for some extra visual interest on top of the already eye-catching colour scheme.

Finished model

With its fun composition and bold colour scheme, 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot makes an attractive display piece, particularly for sneaker heads and basketball fans.

But it's more than a model to display; pushing the lever rocks the shoe and propels the minifigure towards the hoop.  It's a fun feature to include, but as the shoe doesn't travel very far, it's a little underwhelming...

Set 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot with the shoe and minifig removed, revealing that the basketball can be nestled in the same Technic lever construction and used to shoot the ball at the hoop

..but removing the shoe from the mechanism reveals a mini basketball game, which is a bit more fun.
It's not difficult to sink that 3 point shot but it's still a welcome addition to what is predominantly a display piece.

Conclusion

43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot is a great little set that combines an engaging build experience, a stylish display, and a cleverly incorporated mini-game. The techniques used to create the shoe and court are both inventive and satisfying, while the color scheme and composition make it an eye-catching piece to put on display. Altogether, I think it combines the DNA of both brands very well.

For a licensed set, 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot offers very good value at US$39.99/ £34.99/ 39.99€/ AU$59.99, comparable to many non-IP partnered LEGO sets at a similar price point and piece count. In short, this seems like a real slam dunk for both LEGO and Nike fans.
