Today I continue our exploration of the new LEGO® SMART Play™ System. In my previous blog post I took a look at all the new molds found in the first 8 LEGO® Star Wars™ sets with ‘enhanced play’, and today I'll be testing if the SMART Brick adds any value to the play experience by building 4 of them: 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter™, 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing™, 75424 AT-ST™ Attack on Endor and 75426 Millennium Falcon™.

New molds in LEGO® Star Wars™ SMART Play™ sets
In March this year, The LEGO Group launched a new play concept: LEGO® SMART Play™. This system consists of the SMART Brick, and tags hidden inside SMART Tiles and SMART Minifigures. Is that a whole lotta smart, or will the results really smart?
In this, our first article examining the system, the focus is on all the new molds the products introduce. Aside from the specific Smart Play molds, the sets also bring some general useful elements!

Review: 75452 BB-8™ Astromech Droid from LEGO® Star Wars™
It has been ten years since Star Wars™ Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released and we were introduced to BB-8™. In my opinion, the little rolling droid was one of the stand-out features of that first film of the Disney era. Love or hate the sequel trilogy, I think it's difficult to deny that BB-8 is one of its successes.

Review: 75440 AT-AT™ from LEGO® Star Wars™
The LEGO® Star Wars™ 75440 AT-AT™ is firmly aimed at the adult market. It says so on the product page on the LEGO website, twice. At least. So if you're a child: don't get any ideas, this is for adults!

LEGO® SMART Play™ and SMART Brick revealed at CES
EDIT: This product will initially only be made available in the US, UK (not Republic of Ireland), France, Germany, Poland and Australia.
With LEGO® Star Wars™ sets that will use LEGO SMART Play™ technology now available to pre-order, and some more general information to hand about this new technology, we have updated this article on 9 January 2026.
On 5 January at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, USA the LEGO Group revealed their new innovation which will premiere in three March LEGO® Star Wars™ sets.
Our team member Zach Hill was inside the presentation hall, and recognised fan media (like ourselves) have since had a separate presentation which added a little more insight. Read on for details!

Review + MOC: 75428 Battle Droid with STAP from LEGO® Star Wars™
LEGO® Star Wars™ has been around for 26 years without a break. Despite being galaxy-wide, the theme has been making certain subjects over and over again. Although minifigure scale has been the standard, the first large-scale characters – using both LEGO® System and LEGO® Technic System bricks – were released soon after the theme's beginning. Recently, we have seen statuesque, LEGO System-based character models such as 75371 Chewbacca (see my Chewbacca review) and 75398 C-3PO (see my review of the parts in C-3PO). These have been 18+ sets sporting an extravagant air, with blue-on-black information plaques and designer remarks in the instructions.
75428 Battle Droid with STAP seems to be something in between those and normal sets. It has standard instructions without remarks, and no 18+ branding on the box – the age mark is 12+. The model is poseable, but on the other hand, it has the aforementioned plaque and a sleek, black stand. However, my passion lies in some new recolours it has, which imply that we're getting some sweet ball joint recolours for the first time since 2011. Thus, this article features a parts review, a set review, an "Old Elementary" section and an original model by me. Roger roger!

Review: LEGO® Holiday Season sets 40806, 40809, 40812 & 40820
It’s only 89 days till Christmas! Time to start decorating, and as in previous years, The LEGO Group is releasing sets in various sizes to help you get into the holiday spirit. This year, we get tree ornaments, a gingerbread house, an up-scaled Saint Nick, and even LEGO® Star Wars™ joins in the festivities. But will Santa's sack also contain new elements for us?

Revealed: 75419 Death Star™ from LEGO® Star Wars™
On 1 October 2025, LEGO® Star Wars™ will release a slice of life... or rather, a delightful Slice of Death. Set 75419 Death Star™ offers customers a display-and-play model depicting a cross-section of the globoid weapon of planetary destruction, showing famous scenes from the movies within its walls.
To say this set is unprecedented is not hyperbole: it is the largest LEGO Star Wars set to date and contains more minifigures than any LEGO set – 38! – but no doubt the number on everyone's minds is the price: US$999.99/ £899.99/ 999.99€/ AU$1499.99. Is it justified?

Brick Round Corner 2 x 2 x 1 (5924) from LEGO® Sonic the Hedgehog™
Despite being released in January 2025, Brick Round Corner 2 x 2 x 1 (5924) has been surprisingly absent in sets – but why? Today we try to answer just that, as we analyse the latest member of the macaroni family.

3x3PO Parts Fest: Introducing the elements
Not long ago a Jawa Sandcrawler rolled steadily into New Elementary Farm. Myself, Caz and Ben (Davies, not the old Kenobi) needed someone who spoke Bocce, so we got three copies of LEGO® Star Wars™ 75398 C-3PO.
In the end we lost our interest in speaking Bocce pretty soon, so we demolished the droids to make MOCs. So welcome to the 3x3PO fest, the hottest MOC-building festival in this galaxy not that far away. But before we show you what we made, I'll show you the interesting parts in the set. Be ready for many pearl gold recolours!
