Review & MOCs: 21365 Love Birds from LEGO® Ideas

Parts in quantity

Part 7302 first appeared in 2025 and the reddish brown version, introduced in September 2025 has only been in 5 other sets to date, in quantities of just 1 or 2. You can find a whopping 22 of them in 21365 Love Birds.

The build

The build starts with the trunk of the tree, with units of SNOT bricks and brackets connected by axles. Similar units connect via axles to make the larger tree branch that the lovebirds sit on. A variety of slopes, wedges, and tiles create the tree trunk’s texture, mostly in reddish brown with a smattering of dark brown.

The root sections are attached with hinges, so the angles can be adjusted to look more organic. A bunch of dinosaur tails are used to create vines that wrap around the tree, adding to the organic look. Many of them connect with bar with mechanical claw (48729b) inserted into a hollow stud, allowing the angles to be tweaked just so. I love that a couple of flowers and a tree stump tile are hidden in the internals of the tree.

Extra depth is added to the foliage through the use of plant flower stems (24855). Bar-and-clip joints allow for free positioning of the branches, again adding to the organic feel of the build. The leaves were made sand green and yellowish green, changed from the original LEGO Ideas submission (white, bright pink, and lavender) to contrast better with the vibrant coral birds.

The lovebirds were really fun to build. I wish they had used more warm pink, because I’m always excited about a new color, but I love all the new coral parts, too. 

Their construction is fairly straightforward, but the use of the recolored coral large figure armor as the birds’ chests is more reminiscent of something you would see in a MOC than an official set. I enjoyed the use of the tan battle droid arms (30377, 49754) as tiny bird legs.

Completed model

The tree build is gorgeous! As someone who loves to make tree MOCs, I got really excited about the variety of reddish brown and dark brown parts included in the set, and I really enjoyed seeing the techniques used to build the tree, which makes up the majority of the build, using bags 1-5. The birds use bags 6 and 7 combined.

The shape of the birds forming a heart is a cute bonus! I appreciate that you can have the birds both facing the same direction, as shown in the photos above and in the instruction booklet, or have them facing opposite directions, as can be seen on the cover of the box and instruction manual.

MOCs using parts from set 21365

Warm pink makes the perfect color for pale skin that’s been in the sun a bit too long.  I look forward to seeing more parts in this color in the future. I think it has a lot of potential.

The recolors in this set create a lot more possibilities with vibrant coral, including making it fluoresce under blacklight, which I’m excited about. Just imagine all of the new options for an aquarium scene!
