New moulds review: LEGO® Friends January 2026 sets

Posted by Elspeth De Montes

The January 2026 wave of LEGO® Friends sets were revealed in early December 2025, and there's a lot of sets to look through.  We have already taken a look at some recolours in our article covering the New colours for 2026: 431 Blue Violet and 430 Warm Pink.

Now I will focus on all the new moulds included in the new sets including the animals and accessories, and a second post will look at all the recolours and new prints. A few of the new moulds are also found in other themes released on 1 January.

New moulds

Bracket 1 x 2 - 2 x 2 Centered (7694)

There is only one of this new mould included across this whole wave of LEGO Friends sets.  Thankfully, Tom has already written an analysis of Bracket 1 x 2 - 2 x 2 Centered (7694) as part of his analysis of LEGO® Botanicals 11509 Flowering Cactus.

Brick Special 4 x 4 with Axle Holes, 2 x 4 Recessed Center (7796)

Brick Round Curved 1 x 1 x 1 Quarter Dome (5848)

Brick Round Curved 1 x 1 x 1 Quarter Dome (5848) is one plate lower than its sibling Brick Round Curved 1 x 1 x 1 1/3 Quarter Dome (1871, shown above in reddish brown). The same mould is also found in in 80119 Galloping Horses Canvas and you can see Toby's analysis of the new Brick Round Curved 1 x 1 x 1 Quarter Dome (5848) in his review of LEGO® Spring Festival set 80119 Galloping Horses Canvas.

It joins the many curved bricks with a 1-module radius that were introduced or updated with moulds that are one plate lower in 2025; you can read more about the changes in our analysis of Brick Curved 1 x 1 (7126), but here's a collection of them:

Shown from left to right we have:
  • Brick Round Curved 1 x 1 x 1 Quarter Dome (5848
  • Slope, Curved 1 x 1 (7126)
  • Slope, Curved 2 x 1 with Recessed Stud (5841)
  • Brick Round Corner 2 x 2 x 1 in Black (5924
  • Slope, Curved 1 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder (37352)
  • Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Corner Round with Recessed Stud (5846)
Not shown above are even more new curved slopes introduced in 2026!

Plant, Leaf Weeping Willow (7741)

We first came across this new weeping willow branch mould in LEGO® Icons 11372 Autumn Cottage Garden, which also became available on 1 January.  The LEGO Friends sets have green and lime variations of this mould, but since all the sets are available at the same time, we still consider these new moulds rather than recolours.

You can see Thomas' analysis of Plant, Leaf Weeping Willow (7741) in his review of the LEGO Autumn Cottage Garden.

Animals

Bunny (7687)

The bunny has an anti-stud connection on the base and a 1.5mm pin hole on the top of its head for accessories.

Frog (7707)

The frog has a single anti-stud connection on the underside. Its narrow footprint means the front can be connected onto the stud in any position without issue. Those comical big eyes are adorable.

With the addition of the recent LEGO® Minifigure Series 28 Frog Costume, we can now see a clear evolution in the LEGO frog. Prepare for Planet of the Frogs.

Seal (7841)

The seal is 5 plates high at the highest point and has an anti-stud connection over 2 modules on the underside.  The top of the head has a 1.5mm pin hole for adding accessories.

Axolotl (114542)

The axolotl has a single anti-stud on the underside. The positioning of the feet mean that it can only be positioned at 90° angles, unless you use a tile with stud.

The two axolotls have different face prints, and both have a 1.5mm accessory hole on the top of their heads for adding headwear. Because they weren't cute enough already.
Of course these are not the first axolotls LEGO have created: Axolotl Body (86879) was in multiple LEGO® Minecraft sets released in 2023.

Clothing and accessories

Reversible Skirt (6582830)

The skirt comes in a small cardboard box with another cloth element, Fur Cape in Bright Light Blue (6587604), which is a recolour.

The skirt has a central oval hole to allow the skirt fit over the mini-doll waist. It is just short of 6 modules across its widest diameter.

This is a thick fabric element that is matte dark purple on one side and silvery iridescent on the other.  It's quite a stiff material that sticks out when placed on the mini-doll; it creases into a more dignified position with some coaxing.

Horse Blanket (7706)

The horse blanket has a 2x2 brick portion in the centre that attaches to the 2x2 cutout on the horse's back. Each side of the blanket has three 1.5mm pin holes to attach decorations.

Tandem Frame (7575)

The tandem has the clips for handlebars as mini-dolls need angled bars, thanks to their fixed wrist angle. The tandem in the set also gets a little basket and some bike bells to warn of their approach.

While this is the first LEGO tandem mould, there are quite a few different LEGO bicycles to choose from now:

  • Heavy Mountain Bike with Handlebars (36934) shown in dark azure
  • Heavy Mountain Bike with Clip for Handlebars (5554) shown in orange
  • Bicycle Frame with Handlebars (65574) shown in green
  • Bicycle Frame with Clip for Handlebars (6348) – not in-hand to be pictured as this has only appeared twice in two LEGO Friends sets from 2025
  • Tricycle Frame (50015) shown in bright light orange
  • Tandem Frame in Medium Lavender (6591323 | 7575)

Tiny Sou'wester (7738)

The tiny sou'wester is another cute accessory to add to the growing number of accessories with a 1.5mm pin. It seems appropriate for the new frog to model this hat.

Tiny Stetson (7840)

This town ain't small enough for the both of us! It's perhaps less appropriate for the new frog to model this hat, but I'm sure you won't object?

The tiny Stetson is a little pinhole accessory version of  the mini-doll Stetson that appears in 42677 Dog Treats Bakery.

Flowers with Small Pin (7737)

Another fine piece of headwear for our new model.

Hair with Visor (7756)

There are two colours of a new visor-and-hair element; perfect for the golf course, beach or – in the case of Heartlake City – a fashion show.

Mini-doll Scarf (7842)

Naturally this mini-doll scarf is not able to fit on the wider neck of a minifigure, as the mini-doll neck is only 3.18mm.

Conclusion

Overall, there are a few nice new building elements in this LEGO Friends wave but the most important ones are in other themes too. The new bracket and the weeping willow leaves are probably my favourite new moulds from the selection offered.

While the larger bunny, seal, frog and axolotls are cute, I am personally more a fan of animals that are less cartoonish in appearance, for wider use in MOCs.

The tiny hats are heaps of hilarious fun, and it is exciting to get a tandem.

Which are you getting your hands on?

  1. I'm mostly interested in the tandem frame, the weeping willow leaf and the visor caps. I'll be on the lookout when they appear on Bricks And Pieces.

  2. Nice review!

The new frog is long overdue, since the classic frog is less expressive and cute than most Friends animals. I would not be surprised to see this in a Disney Princess set based on The Princess and the Frog in the future—the previous frog couldn't depict an animated character like the transformed Tiana and Naveen very well, but this one with a printable face will probably be much more effective!

The tandem bike is another great mold, a wonderful variation on the classic bike.

It's great to see the range of tiny hats continue to expand, which are good for both Friends animals as well as some hairpieces with accessory holes.

  3. Off topic here, but any news on when we can expect updated parts availability for sets released September time frame on pick a brick?

  4. Oh wow love the tiny hats! Not for the first time, I wish the Lego baby had a 1.5mm hole in it's head.
