When LEGO® NINJAGO® first debuted in 2011, few would have guessed that the theme and associated television series would still be going strong 15 years later.
The theme has returned to its roots for this significant anniversary, providing us with a faithful rendition of the Four Weapons Blacksmith as it appeared at the start of the very first pilot episode, while taking advantage of the elements introduced in the last decade-and-a-half.

New elements
The set introduces a single new mould: Wrap with Forehead Ridge with Gold 3 Point Emblem, Bow in Back (7554). This new ninja hood element is a modern reimagining of the Wrap with Forehead Ridge (98133, shown on the right) that first appeared in 2012.
While the original hood used printing for the gold highlights, the updated version uses dual moulding to capture these details. Accordingly, the gold detailing now extends around the back of the hood, ending in a knot.
Recoloured elements
Only three newly recoloured elements appear within the set:
- 1x Door Grill 1 x 4 x 6 in Tan (6579420 | 92589)
- 2x Brick Arch 1 x 3 x 2, Straight End in White (6575575 | 5850)
- 2x Glass For Frame 1 x 3 x 3 in Tan (6579419 | 51266)
Decorated pieces
The set includes two new printed elements. The 15th anniversary tile appears in several 2026 LEGO Ninjago sets, but the updated map to the Golden Weapons tile is exclusive to this set:

- 1x Tile Round 2 x 2 with "NINJAGO 15" print in Pearl Gold (6578600 | 14769)

Sticker sheet
The set comes with a modest sticker sheet for adding additional details to the set.
Several of these stickers directly reference the history of the LEGO Ninjago toy line and television series:
- Sticker 5 translates to 2011, the year LEGO Ninjago debuted
- Sticker 6 recreates the signage Lloyd and Python deface in Season 1: Rise of the Snakes
- Sticker 7 is a rendition of the photo of Ray and Maya that appeared in the Day of the Departed TV special
- Stickers 8 and 9 depict the Samurai X and Kai ZX character cards from 2012
Minifigures
Though we don't always focus on minifigures in set reviews, they're worth examining closely here given the number of new printed elements they introduce.
Starting with Nya and Master Wu, each character features new a new printed torso and legs:
Nya
- Torso (6590019)
- Legs (6578538)
Master Wu
- Torso (6587775)
- Legs (6578582)
Continuing with Ray and Maya, we see the following new printed elements:
Ray
- Head (6578526)
- Torso (6590273)
- Legs (6578528)
Maya
- Torso (6590184)
- Legs (6578531)
Lastly, Kai and the Master of Earth each introduce exclusive printed torso and leg elements:
Kai
- Torso (6590020)
- Legs (6578538)
Master of Earth
- Torso (6590183)
- Legs (6578540)
Building experience
The set is constructed from 12 numbered bags of elements. The first four bags are used to assemble the base and walls for the left half on the building.
The organic shaping of the base is accomplished via a mix of slopes and curved slopes. A combination of headlight bricks and panels are embedded into the construction to expose antistud connection points. The reason for this will become apparent later.
The distinctive, elongated window of the shop is accomplished by mounting a 1x4x6 grille door (
92589) in a sideways frame, and layering a brick-built outer frame in front of the construction.

When compared to the location in the television series, the only major change is the removal of a staircase found in the back corner of the building. This is an understandable omission given the limited interior space of the set.
The right side of the interior features a cobblestone floor arranged in a circular pattern. This pattern is created using a combination of 1x1 round tiles (
35381) and 2x2 D-shaped tiles (
5520), angled using jumpers.
Interestingly, the pillars along the front of the structure are constructed upside down to allow inclusion of the
tokyō brackets below the building eaves. These columns are connected to the base via the antistuds exposed earlier in the building process.
The right side of the building houses the blacksmith operations, including a hearth, anvil, and slack tub. More eagle-eyed LEGO Ninjago fans may recognize the weapons resting against the wall as those included in the original
2111 Kai and
2172 Nya spinners, from 2011.
The final four bags are used to assemble the roof of the building. The base of the roof is assembled from standard slope bricks, while a removable upper section is constructed using rocker bearings and plates (
3937 and
6134).
Hidden in the rafters are the Samurai X helmet and Kai ZX ninja hood, alongside miniature versions of the associated game cards.
The signage at the front of the shop also hides a secret play feature referencing the original LEGO Ninjago pilot. Pressing a button inside of the shop causes the front of the sign to pop off, revealing a hidden map showing the location of the Golden Weapons.
Completed model
The completed model shows remarkable accuracy to the location as it appeared in the early television series, and is a testament to the evolution of LEGO model design practices over the past 15 years.
While primarily meant as a display model, the building is hinged to allow access to the detailed interior when a section of the roof is removed.
The interior faithfully captures the details of the original TV version. The left side of the structure houses the living area with bed and wall art, while the right side features the smithy and requisite equipment.
My singular critique of the design is focused on the omission of the iconic water tower that accompanies the building in the television series, and the lack of any skulkin figures to recreate the attack on the blacksmith (perhaps the only superior feature of the preceding
2508 Blacksmith Shop)! Of course, changes such as these would likely have necessitated a raised price point over the psychological threshold of US$100.
