Set 10352 The Simpsons™ Krusty Burger has been available to LEGO® Insiders since Sunday along with its accompanying Gift with Purchase (GwP), 5009325 The Simpsons™ Living Room. On Wednesday 4 June 2025 they both become available to all, so having already reviewed the Krusty Burger LEGO set we thought we would take a close look at the "couch gag" living room GwP today. Cue theme tune!

Coming in the "yellow window" packaging, where the cover page of the instructions is visible through the window, the pieces come in 4 unnumbered bags – one being just a small ziplock containing the two precious printed exclusive pieces.

completed model of the Simpsons Lego GWP living room

There's no point showing you its construction as a mere 123 parts, its done in a flash! You can figure it all out just by looking at these pictures.

There's something on the TV screen too, even though you don't normally see this when viewing the model. I'd have loved for the tile to say "Created by Matt Groening", as is shown in the last shot of the opening credits, but perhaps that would have been a legal nightmare. Tying this to the Krusty Burger instead is, of course, an ideal solution.

That one dark pink brick in the wall, by the way, is what holds the boat picture up, as the piece doesn't come in coral.

The completed vignette is based on a 12x12-module square. It would have been nice for it to be a little wider, but I guess that was not within the scope/budget.

Comparing the colours

LEGO sets based upon intellectual properties are always interpretations of the source material – you can never recreate the shape and colours of something perfectly in LEGO bricks, plus what works in one medium doesn't always work in another. Then of course there are production and budgetary considerations, as well as The LEGO Group's rigid regulations around building experience and safety.

So comparing the Simpsons' LEGO lounge room to the original show is somewhat pointless, especially as the colours and even the furniture have changed over the decades. But that didn't stop me having a look!

Clearly the design team did not have budget for introducing new colours of existing parts, and have done their best using elements currently in production. They’ve done well; I think the result looks great. I mean it’s great in that it’s the most vile colour scheme you can possibly imagine for a lounge room, but that’s the joke.

Above you see a (relatively) early version of the living room, before the rug. I've chosen it because it some colours are closer to the LEGO version than the current version. For example the standing lamp base and bar are lavender these days; here they are dark pink, and for a while, they were blue.

Amazingly, the LEGO version is even more gauche that the original! The TV version's walls certainly are coral-toned, but a much lighter and less... well, vibrant shade. The TV is lavender and dark purple on the show, but for the LEGO version it's all dark purple. This creates a much bolder, in-your-face colour scheme, which I think is wonderful fun. I don't want to live there, though.

Where possible, they got the colours just right. Dark orange for the couch is spot on, dark turquoise for the floor is a no-brainer, as is the orange shade of the floor lamp. The lamp on the side table even includes the dark green top of its base. The oval rug is another success, and I'm glad this GwP has arrived in an era when 3x3 curved tiles exist.

The tube and base of the floor lamp in the show is purple, so the dark pink base is a fair match. As for the sand green 6L bar used as the tube, it hasn’t appeared in dark pink since 2019 so is definitely out of production, and does not come in any other pink or purple shades. I suspect the only other options they had were bright green, red or orange – so I concur that sand green was the best decision.

The same goes for the side table, which should be purple but those options are long out of production and I agree sand blue is the wise choice here. Also, the very first few episodes featured a light blue side table, so there is some provenance.

Thankfully us fans don’t face the many restrictions that LEGO product designers do; we can raid the whole back catalogue of parts to amend official sets to our satisfaction.

The only thing truly jarring for me (in this most jarring of vignettes) is dark pink drawer insert, as it distracts more than it should. Again, the colour options here are significantly limited. I wonder if ditching the drawer – which is quite small in the show – in favour of the 3 books may have looked better?

Elements of interest

As mentioned, the exciting news is there are two exclusive printed tiles in this set – and no stickers, unlike the Krusty Burger set!

2 printed lego simpsons tiles

  • 1x Tile 2 x 3 with Krusty Burger Logo print in White (6577542)
  • 1x Tile 2 x 4 with Groove with Framed Picture of Boat on Water print in Tan (6577541)

Surprisingly, there's also a sort-of new piece in the set. This brick has appeared in orange before, but printed, so this is the first instance of a plain version.
  • 1 x Brick Round 2 x 2 Truncated Cone in Bright Orange/ Orange (6461843 | 98100)

You also get a few bits that have appeared in only a few sets to date:

4 lego parts

  • 2 x Plate 3 x 3 in Dark Orange (6490183 | 11212) in 3 sets
  • 1 x Brick Round 2 x 2 Truncated Cone in Bright Purple/ Dark Pink (6329278 | 98100) in 4 sets
  • 1 x Bar 6L with Stop Ring in Sand Green (6474602 | 28921, 63965)
  • 4 x Tile 3 x 3 Curved, Macaroni in Light Purple/ Bright Pink (6468509 | 79393) in 3 sets from 2024

I didn't expect to be mentioning any bricks coming in quantity in a GwP of 123 pieces! But here we are.

lots of 1x4 lego coral bricks
  • 25x Brick 1 x 4 in Vibrant Coral/ Coral (6422918 | 3010)
That's 20% of the set's inventory! The most any other set has ever included is 8.

One of the hidden costs of the production of LEGO sets is the number of unique types of elements included. Having many different shapes of brick requires more time packing. Designers need to take this into consideration, alongside the production costs of the elements. So making a wall mostly out of one brick is a great solution, certainly for sets with such great limitations as GwPs have.

the simpsons TV under construction.

Another great example of this is the Simpsons' TV. It uses 6x brick 1x1 with stud on 1 side in dark purple (6063897 | 87087), which is not a lot, but is a clever way to build it using a repeated element. Most are used to attach the screen and the buttons, but one fills a gap at the rear of the TV leaving its hole exposed – representing the cable plug on the original!

Conclusion

For a GwP of 123 pieces, this is a fantastic job. Can it get any more iconic than the Simpsons' couch? This vignette model squeezes in all the core details, including the fabulous rug which they probably could have got away with leaving out at a pinch.

You need to add your own Simpsons minifigures. This is a bit sad, but given the GwP only comes with the Krusty Burger set, I guess no-one will be without? (Except me, who was lucky enough to receive this free for review.)

For the two tiles to come printed is wonderful! I'm sad that the boat picture is attached using 2 studs rather than 1, so cannot be set crooked, but that is an easy fix. I'd be interested to know why they did that, though.

The proportions of the sofa may be an issue for some fans. I was disappointed at first, but of course the original gag of the couch is that it doesn’t fit all 5 of the Simpsons, indeed even 4 is tight. This just elevates the gag further by only providing 2 spaces, at a squish – so I say,  embrace the too-narrow sofa and design your own couch gag around it!

  1. I think the boat picture would have matched the show better if it had been printed on a 2 x 3 tile instead of a 2 x 4 tile.
