There have been many versions over the years at various scales, but the only UCS version to date, 7181 TIE Interceptor, dates from 2000. High time for an update then, especially as that version had only 703 parts!

Celebrating 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars collaboration, the set comes with a special printed brick. There is also a TIE Pilot minifigure and Mouse Droid figure, which LEGO say are "currently" exclusive to this set. 

From 1 to 5 May, when purchasing the new LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor™, you will receive 3 Gifts with Purchase: 

• the Battle of Yavin collectible depicting Darth Vader’s cockpit view
• the Trade Federation Troop Carrier set commemorating the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
• the AAT™ building set

We spy the 1x6x1 slope and a train wheel recoloured to Light Bluish Gray.

The cockpit looks inviting! It seems it is stickered.

Early access to the set will be available to LEGO Insiders from May 1, with general release on May 4 - of course.
