Posted by Thomas Jenkins

The Winter blues may be setting in for many, but LEGO® Botanicals are here to bring a burst of color to your day. They have revealed 11501 Tulip Bouquet, which blooms with a stunning mix of brick-built flowers, showcasing a rainbow of recolors and even introducing a couple of few fresh elements to the LEGO parts inventory.

Lego Botanicals 11501 Tulip Bouquet

About the model

The set features 5 varieties of tulips in various colours and stages of bloom, as well as unopened flowers and leaves.

Like previous bouquet sets, the flowers are designed to be displayed in a vase (not included in the set) to add a playful twist to your home decor.

Here is the tulip set alongside the extremely popular LEGO Botanicals rose bouquets.

New moulds

It's a little unusual for LEGO Botanicals sets to introduce new parts – they usually rely on the inventive use of existing elements to recreate their subject matter – so it's a little surprising to see not one but two new elements amongst this beautiful bouquet of brick-built flowers. Conversely, both will be extremely useful in other themes too.

New petal/ windscreen element

The first new element we spot in the tulip bouquet is this new canopy – in red, bright pink, purple, and yellow!

11501 Tulip Bouquet was just one of the upcoming sets revealed to us at Fan Media Days earlier this year. LEGO Botanicals product designer Theo Bonner was keen to show us his tablescrap which showcased some of the element's unique geometry. We can't wait to analyze the part ourselves!

While the element was made specifically for the tulips, it looks like an exciting element to MOC with. It looks very much like a windscreen to us, or maybe even the bonnet of a VW Beetle?

New petal/ leaf element

The second new element we found is a new foliage element, appearing in red and yellow in the tulips' petals.

This new leaf piece looks to be based on the 3 x 3 Palm Leaf (part 7264) that was introduced in 10348 Japanese Red Maple Bonsai earlier this year (see Ben's review of set 10348). That element featured three leaves, while this new part only has one.

Recolours

As you'd expect from LEGO Botanicals, the set is full of recoloured elements. Here are the ones we spotted:

  • Sports Surfboard Standard (90397) in Bright Pink and Green
  • Brick Round Corner, Curved 2 x 2 x 2/3 Quarter Circle (5852) in Bright Pink and Purple
  • Cone 3 x 3 x 3 (Elliptic Paraboloid) with Internal Axle Hole (1744) in Yellowish Green
  • Brick Round 1 x 1 D. Tube with 45° Elbow and Axle Holes (Crossholes) at Each End (7324) in Green
  • Shield Ovoid [Plain] (2586) in Purple
  • Brick Arch 1 x 5 x 3 1/3 Curved Top (5845) in Green
  • Pneumatic Hose Connector with Axle Connector (99021) in Green
  • Plate Special 1 x 2 with Angular Extension and Flexible Green Tip in Green

It's quite the list already, but as always, let us know if we missed anything in the comments below!

  1. That new large panel piece screams "windscreen"—I could see it being used effectively as such on something like a mech or large motorcycle. The curve of it slightly reminds me of 47844 (the elongated cockpit window used in Alpha Team and Mars Mission, among others), but as your pics demonstrate this one's curves are a little more compatible with other parts in the system.
