In this video we filmed at Fan Media Days last year Chris McVeigh, Senior Designer and Jordan Scott, LEGO® Ideas Creative Lead explain that the Orange Cat is not a direct recolour of the Tuxedo Cat; there have been a few little changes _ and some 30 recolours to Medium Nougat! – resulting in 45 more elements, at the same price as the Tuxedo Cat.

As the LEGO press release explains,

This lifelike (and allergy-friendly) Orange Cat figure comes with a choice of green or blue eyes. Turn the cat’s head, open and close the mouth and adjust the ears, paws and tail to customise your display.

Another improvement is the hinged mouth; on Tuxedo Cat you had to swap it out.

Recolours

At his presentation, we asked designer Chris McVeigh about recolours and he says there are 30 pieces that were changed to medium nougat for this project!
