Our earlier review of 21367 Tintin® Moon Rockets took a detailed look at the newest LEGO® Ideas set, but there seemed to be a lot of discussion around the minifigures all wearing spacesuits. The set designers explained that this was a requirement from the Tintin IP holders, as they wanted the minifigures to be wearing their appropriate outfits from Explorers on the Moon.

I thought it would be interesting to try and use official LEGO minifigure elements to change the Tintin characters into their more classic clothing. Let's just say that altering Snowy in his spacesuit proved tricky!

It was a hard decision between using a plain dark azure torso with the collar accessory (27147) on the left or the blue pullover torso worn by Speed Racer from 8151 Speed Racer & Snake Oiler on the right . For legs, there are no golfing plus fours and no dual moulded legs in the appropriate colours. I think either dark tan or dark orange legs will work best for now. Overall I personally prefer the dark orange trousers and the dark azure jumper with white neck tie.
Captain Haddock

Captain Haddock is mainly seen wearing a black or navy trouser and a roll-neck blue jumper bearing an anchor. He often wears a navy captain's peak cap with a gold braid and his blazer to complete the outfit.
I decided to go for the CMF Series 10 Sea Captain torso, as it has the captains jacket although I realise the roll neck jumper is not blue..jpeg)
Headgear was another issue, there's the white peak hat from the CMF Series 10 Sea Captain, the white captains peak hat with anchor print from CMF Series 23 Ferry Captain and then the dark blue peak hat with gold braid worn by the lighthouse keeper in 21335 Motorized Lighthouse. I also considered the Classic Town white torso with anchor print but it is only in white and the roll-neck sweater and jacket combination that was used for the hovercraft pilot in 7045 Hovercraft Hideout from 2003.
Thomson & Thompson

The two detectives, Thomson and Thompson are consistently seen wearing black suits, white shirts and their black bowler hats. They carry brown walking sticks (and occasionally a handgun).
The bowler hat (95674) and black suits jackets were simple enough, the torso I used belongs to Alfred Pennyworth in 76052 Batman Classic TV Series Batcave, but there are other similar torsos. The brown walking sticks proved trickier. Options included the candy cane element (1621) but it is only available in stripes at present. The upturned older hockey stick (93559) is the right colour but it is hard for the minifigures to hold at the correct height, the newer mould (64000) is only available in black or white sadly. The umbrella (77042) have the perfect curved handle but they are not available in reddish brown, only pearl gold or black. The 3L bars that are used in the actual set do not have the curved handle.
Professor Calculus

Professor Calculus generally wears a green coat or jacket, a green hat (sometimes looking like a bowler hat, others times it is little more floppy). He also wears a shirt and tie and black trousers and carries a his pendulum or umbrella.
I decided to go with the somewhat vague green torso used by the Army Men from 7595 Army Men on Patrol, plain black legs and a green bowler hat to finish off the look. In an ideal world there would be dual molded green and black legs to give the impression of a longer green coat with black trousers, but sadly these only exist in dark green at the moment.
Other potential green coat torso/leg options I considered were Sirius 76408 12 Grimmauld Place but his coat is pin striped, The Wizard from 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends and the Daily Prophet Photographer from 75978 Diagon Alley. None of these felt quite right to me either.
EDIT:

Thanks to the suggestion from the comments, I've updated Professor Calculus as Mr Burns torso was an excellent idea. Using the dual moulded dark green and black legs from the CMF Series 24 Carrot Mascot gives the impression of his long green coat as an alternative.
Snowy
![]() |
| © Hergé / Tintinimaginatio - 2026 |
Snowy is a white terrier dog but the version of Snowy included in 21367 Tintin® Moon Rocket is dual moulded in his orange space suit. Altering his appearance is impossible.

They only thing I could think of was to either hide Snowy so he is peeking behind a wall or from a box, or create some shenanigans to explain his orange coat.
Conclusion
With some limitations, it is possible to recreate a reasonable depiction of the Tintin human characters in their classic outfits. Snowy is another matter. It's a shame he is destined to be orange unless a new mould, or a least a white recolour is produced.Let us know if you have other suggestions as there are a lot of official minifigure parts to choose from.
