Revealed: 43019 Football from LEGO® Editions

Posted by Elspeth De Montes

LEGO® Editions are hoping to score big with the next set they are kicking out in March 2026. 43019 Football is an almost 1:1 scale model of the size 5 football ball used in official matches.

Box and model for set 43019, a Lego Football from the "Lego Editions" range

We've had a peek at the press release images to see if there are any new elements onside or if we should just clear the ball from inside the box. (There's more puns to come...)

LEGO Editions is a new theme that aims to provide fans with detailed display sets of pop culture icons from their passions. They have already released a football-themed set but this one is more a generic set rather than being linked to any particular football authority or competition.

However it is not just a ball, as inside there’s a mini-stadium celebration scene with fireworks popping off behind the stage at the press of a button – well, according to the box!

LEGO press release

Kick-off kids’ creativity with the LEGO Editions Football (43019) building toy for 10+ year old boys and girls. Packed with awesome details, this building set lets fans create an almost 1:1 LEGO football based on the size 5 ball used in official matches.

The collectible DIY display model includes LEGO Technic elements to achieve a rounded shape, and the outside of the ball features 6 stylish deco discs, while inside there’s an exciting mini stadium celebration scene waiting to be discovered. Kids can press the button and watch the moment the football player figures celebrate a win, with fireworks popping off behind the stage.

Other fun stadium details include a small golden trophy toy in the centre and big screens.  A great football gift for 10+ year old boys, girls and teenagers, as well as adult fans, the model kit is designed for display and includes a black base that makes it easy to show it off as kids' bedroom decor once completed. It’s also available in the LEGO Builder app, where fans can track their progress.

New elements

The first new elements that are easy to spot are the printed 10 x 10 dishes (51373, 35326) forming the outer surface of the ball. We have had these 10 x 10 dishes plain white before of course, but the stylised printing is new.

Not all are printed: it appears as though some of the 10 x 10 dishes have stickers to add details, like SIZE 5 (almost).

A closer look at the sticker reminds us that, while LEGO test their elements to the extreme, kicking the LEGO football will only end in tears. To be fair, this often happens in football generally.

We found two recoloured elements:

  • Wedge tile 1 x 2 (5092) comes in vibrant coral – but it seems to be an orphan, unless the left side version is hidden within the build somewhere?
  • Ice cream sundae glass (68504) is new in pearl gold.

The figures are the first unprinted dual-molded statuettes to date and, like the size 5 football itself, the winning players and their trophy are not to scale!

The ball itself uses LEGO Technic for the structure, with a mechanism to open the ball and reveal the little winning team inside. It looks like there's some nice new printing on the  4 x 4 macaroni tiles (27507) near the firework display.

The crowd appear to be stickers on 4 x 4 tiles placed onto hinges to encircle the stadium.

It's not clear from the images is the ball can be removed easily from the black base, but I imagine not. There's an obvious disadvantage to having a LEGO ball rolling while on display on a shelf and making it look too much like a kickable/throwable ball would also be problematic.  Thankfully it is only almost a 1:1 scale model and almost a football.

Can you spot any other new elements that we may have missed? Is this set a keeper? Will you wait for it to go on clearance? Or perhaps you think it's a LEGO own-goal.

  1. Nice analysis! This is a lot more interesting of a set than the previously revealed trophy—the Technic structure is interesting and the little mini-scene inside is very cute.
