The Simpsons™ is one of the most famous and longest-running animated shows ever, and is still going (strong?). The dysfunctional family has been captured in LEGO® form before, and now, after 10 years of silence (aside from a rogue LEGO® Brickheadz set), they are back for a snack – at 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger.
As I was still fully in my LEGO® Technic phase when The Simpsons LEGO sets came out, I’m eager to build the revival, now marketed under the LEGO® Icons umbrella, and discover its new pieces.

About The Simpsons LEGO and the Krusty Burger
In 2014, the Simpson family saw their home turned into LEGO set 71006 The Simpsons House, accompanied by LEGO® Minifigures 71005 The Simpsons Series 1 (back when they had 16 per series). The next year brought 71016 Kwik-E-Mart, Springfield's convenience store, along with another LEGO Minifigures 71009 The Simpsons Series 2 and two LEGO® Dimensions sets, 71211 Bart Simpson Fun Pack and 71227 Krusty Fun Pack. Ever since, speculation on the next building to be featured have been doing the rounds, but aside from LEGO® Brickheadz set 41632 Homer Simpson & Krusty the Clown from 2018, the franchise was not seen again in the LEGO universe. Until now, as Krusty the Clown’s fast food franchise is opening a new location!
The Krusty Burger first appeared in Series 2 Episode 21, Three Men and a Comic Book, but can be in many more episodes, making it a landmark for Springfield, although places like the nuclear power plant or Moe’s might have been a more iconic choice.
The chain is known for its questionable food (if you can call it food), bad hygiene and terrible working conditions. Join me as I grab me a Deep Fried Krusty Burger with Buffalo Things, Gravy Scrape 'ems and a Krusty-Partially-Gelatinated-Non-Dairy-Gum-Based-Beverage before opening the box.
The minifigures
Normally I would start with the recolors, new prints and new molds found in the set, but as most of these can be found within the minifigures, I’ll look at them first.
Lisa, Bart and Homer are recurring central characters, and are a bit disappointing, as they are for the most part a repeat from their earlier incarnations. Their heads do come with a new Element ID and mold number, but I couldn’t find physical differences between these and the versions from a decade ago. My assumption is that the factory molds have been replaced after so many years, but no (visible) design updates have been made.
Homer’s head (6528965 | 7122) is a repeat, but he is wearing a newly printed white shirt with a stain (6550543).
Bart is a one-on-one copy for his appearance in 71052 The Simpsons Series 1, as far as I can see. His yellow head (6528966 | 7123), red torso (6550599) and dark azure legs (6550594) are all the same as his previous version, although the latter were reused in a 2018 LEGO® City set.
Lisa has a similar fate, with her head (6528967), red torso (6550896 | 7124) and red legs (6550604) being identical to her LEGO Minifigures version.
The only true new part for Lisa is her skirt in red (6529633), which looks identical to her former one when assembled on the figure, but now has 2 holes in the center instead of 1.
Krusty the Clown is also a recurring character, but appears in his farmer outfit from his Mother Nature Burger commercial promoting 'healthy' vegan burgers in S20E21 Coming to Homerica. His head in bright light yellow (6528968 | 112021) is a new mold, and his bright light blue torso (6551030) features a new print.
Sergeant Lou makes his first appearance in LEGO form, with a newly molded head in medium nougat (6550860 | 112019) and a newly printed torso in blue (6550955).
Operating the fry station is Jeremy Freedman or Squeaky-Voiced Teen, also making his debut as a LEGO figure. His yellow head (6528970 | 112016*) is a new mold, and his torso in lime (6551009) has a new print.
Saving my favorite character for last: Sideshow Bob or Robert Underdunk Terwilliger Jr., PhD is the antagonist who is determined to kill Bart in a creative way. His yellow head (6528969 | 112017) is a new mold, along with a newly printed torso in lime (6550831). The figure looks recognizable enough, but the hair needs to be more extravagant and his big clown shoes are sorely missed. And of course he needs a rake as an accessory (smack, groan!) but has a pie.
*I’m not 100% sure about the mold number for Jeremy’s head, as his cap makes the hole inside much deeper, making it hard to read the number. My daughter who has much younger eyes was able to decipher the final 4 digits of 6, 2016, by holding the head over a light. I’ve guessed the first two must be 11 as it lines up with the other new heads.
Recolors
For a set this size, the number of recolors is a bit low, with just 5 elements appearing in a new color,
Let's start with some teal!
- 11 x Plate Special 2 x 3 with Cloud Edge in Dark Turquoise (6544526 | 5518)
- 4 x Bracket 1 x 2 with 1 x 2 Vertical Studs in Tan (6453349 | 4585)
- 1 x Panel 1 x 2 x 3 in Medium Azure (6550951 | 87544)
- 3 x Tile Round 2 x 2 Half Circle in Bright Light Yellow (6544527 | 5520)
- 1 x Tile Round 2 x 4 in Nougat (6551499 | 66857)
Decorations and show references
Going by sticker number:
- #4 The ribwich was first introduced in S14E12 I'm Spelling as Fast as I Can.
“We start with authentic letter-grade meat, and process the hell out of it, until it’s good enough for Krusty.” - #5 In S05E08 Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood, the drifting scouts find a Krusty outlet located on an oil rig.
“Give me 700 Krusty Burgers!”
“You want fries with that?” - #8 This counter shows the same number as seen in the original intro. When The Simpsons first aired in 1989, $847.63 was the average monthly cost of raising a child in the U.S.
- #9 Another counter shows 6.15. This could be a reference to S06E15 Homie the Clown, where Homer is enrolling into Krusty's Clown College and he introduces a new burger.
“And now to help introduce our fantastic new burger, the one with ketchup…” - #14 El Barto is Bart Simpon’s graffiti tag, and is first seen in S01E03 Homer's Odyssey. The election poster is from S06E05 Sideshow Bob Roberts, where Sideshow Bob runs for mayor.
- #15 Buzz is the cola brand of choice in Springfield.
- #18 This box of out-of-date coleslaw can be seen in S08E07 Lisa's Date with Density, where Nelson, Dolph, Kearney and Jimbo huck it at Principal Skinner’s house.
- #22 The Mother Nature Burger was introduced in S20E21 Coming to Homerica, as a ‘healthy’ alternative to the Krusty Burger.
“Studies show your Krusty Burger is the unhealthiest fast-food item in the world.”
“Worse than the Double Krusty Burger?”
“Somehow, yes.”
- #26 In S31E17 Highway to Well, Marge mentions she owns Drederick Tatum's countertop grill, who is a boxer in the show. This is a reference to former boxer George Foreman, who is famous for his George Foreman Grill.
- #33 The Krusty Burglar was introduced in S06E15 Homie the Clown, where Homer beats him up for stealing burgers, not realizing it's an act.
[crying] “Stop, stop! He’s already dead!” - #38 & #39. In S06E15 Homie the Clown, Homer gets shot while buying a car. The car salesman tells him the resulting holes in the car “are speed holes, they make the car go faster”. Homer then puts holes in his own car.
Other elements of interest
There are other elements which are not new, but haven’t appeared in many sets as of time of writing.

- 6 x Bracket 1 x 1 - 1 x 2 Inverted in Dark Purple (6513770 | 73825)
- 2 x Tile 2 x 2 Curved, Macaroni in Bright Light Yellow (6382959 | 27925)
- 1 x + a spare Tile Round 1 x 2 Half Circle in Nougat (6477828/6510076 | 1748)

- 1 x Tile 2 x 6 in Light Aqua (6523400 | 69729)
- 1 x Door Frame 1 x 6 x 6 in Lavender (6489736 | 42205)
- 2 x 5443 Technic Axle Connector 5L with One Side Frictionless in Black (6546682 | 5443). This interesting mold was introduced only last month in 21356 River Steamboat. Read Kevin J. Walter's review of set 21356.

The finished model
We start with the family car, pimped for Homer’s job as Krusty's stand-in, as seen in Homie the Clown.
The crumpled top of the front left wheel arch, as well as the tie-rips across Krusty’s face on the front, were caused by driving into a tree while hurrying to a kid’s party. Technically, the ‘speed holes’ in the bonnet were made when the car was in its original form.
The car fits Homer, but only if he keeps his left arm raised, as it collides with the door.
Then on to the Krusty Burger itself.
In the back we find the drive through window, and next to it the overflowing fryer oil disposal. Maybe someone could steal it and sell it for profit? Cheaper than frying bacon to get grease.
On the inside we find the fryer itself, in the kitchen behind the counter, alongside the grill from the Drederick Tatum Industrial Grill brand. Of course, the ice cream machine is out of order.
Next to the kitchen is the drive-through window, where someone ordered 700 burgers.
As food poisoning is a high risk in this franchise, there is a toilet present. I just hope that the splash on the ground comes from the sink. For once, there's no need to debate the correct orientation of the toilet paper roll: it’s empty.
While we wait for our order, the kids can play in the ball pit of Krusty’s Kidz Zone, and after we’ve received our order, we have the choice between a booth or smaller tables. Red roller skates form the "meat" of the ribwich, and Wolverine’s claws in pearl gold are used to represent the french fries.
The corners of the sloped roof are held in place by angled nozzles inserted into the underside of inverted 1x3 tiles. The flat section of roof is removable, to show the interior which is packed with a lot of details, making it a bit cramped:
Luckily the walls of the finished Krusty Burger can hinge, allowing access to the inside.
Conclusion
The end result looks good, and on par with the original version seen in the show. I enjoyed the many references and details found in the set, which resulted in me rewatching several episodes to make sure I recognized them correctly. It’s always fun when a review gives me homework, and watching cartoons is my favorite kind. So on that front, this seems to be a good set.
My main issue would be that most of these references rely on stickers; aside from the figure parts, there are just 2 old printed elements. I guess most of the budget went into the figures? Even there, Bart and Lisa are a repeat, and Homer only gets a new torso print. I’m sure they must have visited the restaurant in an alternative outfit at some point?
On the other hand, the introduction of Lou, Greasy Teen and Sideshow Bob – the latter with some minor issues – is very welcome. Combined with just 5 recolors, this might not be the most interesting set as a parts pack, but fans of the show will certainly enjoy the finished model.

Nice review! I've never been a regular watcher of The Simpsons, but of course I recognize the Krusty Burger restaurant from its appearance in the frequently memed "Steamed Hams" short.
ReplyDeleteThe teal cloud element here feels like a very appealing element to me as a Monkie Kid fan—feels like a natural fit for that theme's aesthetic and color scheme.
How are the eyes on the sign not printed? Same piece is printed in 77071 Fortnite Supply Llama.
ReplyDeleteCrazy right? I would hate to think it was an IP issue!
DeleteMaybe this set (or that part of the design) was created and locked in before the Supply Llama and its printed eyes were a thing.
DeleteBart in The Simpsons Series 1 had a slingshot sticking out of the back of his pants (printed on the torso), so this figure doesn't actually match that one.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it matches the one from the Dimensions pack though
