Peter Reid's 'bar with towball' idea

Posted by Admin
Our brief re-exploration of the LEGO® piece 3.2 Shaft W/5.9 Ball (Design ID 22484) seems to be turning into an unexpected parts festival! I was pleased to hear from Peter Reid with a new creation that uses this part. He calls it The Digital Ombudsman.

Peter has used the Transparent Bright Green version (Element ID 6139234). Only the shaft end is visible, creating the robot's eye, but the piece is critical to the build. Peter kindly sent a breakdown picture to explain things clearly.

The ball connects to the cup piece in the Light Stone Grey body, providing a joint that allows the head to be posed.

Threaded onto the shaft, an 'Apollo stud' (round 1x1 plate with open stud, Design IDs 85861 and 28626) is used to attach an interesting Dark Stone Grey piece I am unfamiliar with. Peter was none the wiser, really... "something from Star Wars, I think. I need to have more" was all he said. I'm sure one of you readers can help!

I love how a little bit of green light happens to catch the indentation on the 1x2 ingot tile (99563), making it look a bit like an illuminated panel.

    1. Pete doesn't often get instructions done, partly because his builds are so wacky/hard to show/weak connections! Maybe you can work it out from the pics.

    3. Turns out, I figured it out on my own. I didn't have the Ultron neck piece or pirate hooks, though, so I had to improvise...

    1. Very unlikely; Pete is always sparing with his images... generally he puts all the effort into that one 'hero' shot. I was lucky he agreed to the breakdown shot!

In fact you may have noticed to get the close up shot, I cropped in and flipped the image :)
